Pros
Company has deep pockets and is run by some very talented and motivated individuals who are not afraid to take risks.
Cons
Their main industry is declining at a rapid pace. They are the leader in their business but growth is only by gaining market share from others.
Advice to Senior Management
Do a better job of educating consumers about the benefits of custom framing order to cultivate customers for the future.
Pros
Employees get great deals on picture framing! Full time employees are eligable for profit sharing, and the benefits are great. There are many positions to choose from and it's easy to move around from department to department if you aren't happy working where you are. Some of the various positions include: miter saw operation, picture frame joining, touch up, picking and packing, shipping, delivery driver, picture framer and customer service.
Fairly easy to book time off work when needed for appointments or holiday.
Cons
They pay isn't great, and it's hard to get a raise. It was hard to keep staff around, I feel it was partly because they were underpaid and also unappreciated. There needed to be more focus on creating a team and making the staff feel proud of the company they work for.
Advice to Senior Management
LJ should develop a training/policy manual for all employees that is used at all branches in Canada and even the US.
