Some days are good, most days are bad

    Manager (Current Employee) Bronx, NY

Prostime off is way above norm, 20 vacation days and 7 personal days. however this policy dampers office productivity often.

Consadmin leadership is absent, past practices run rampant, culture and the Bronx are depressing. pay is way below average.

Advice to Senior Managementpurge the dead weight employees who collect massive salaries and let young potential leading employees develop the future business.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Really cool

Data Entry Clerk (Former Employee) Bronx, NY

ProsThis was great atmosphere to be in. The staff were very friendly, and helpful when I first started. Everyone is very laid back and comfortable to be around. There was always lots of coming in, but still had time so show the employees appreciation every once in a while.

ConsI was temp from an agency upstate New York, so I did not get to stay very long.

Program Director (Former Employee) Bronx, NY

ProsLots of vacation, sick and personal days. (4 weeks vacation that can be rolled over; 12 sick days that can be rolled over, 7 personal days and 8 paid holidays a year) Flexible work schedule offered with supervisor approval (so really depends on your department and job type)

Consbad parking if you don't pay for a lot; really in a tough place to get to with public transportation depending on where you are coming from.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Rigorous environment with good overall opportunities

PhD Student (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsRigorous work environment for research, open to collaboration, good facilities, strong research faculty, many opportunities to publish in peer-reviewed journals, cooperative environment

ConsRestrictions due to funding, culture of negativity in some departments, culture of conformity in most departments, lower chance of success than at higher-ranked institutions, difficult to have unconventional ideas or approach

Advice to Senior ManagementThe focus on translational work is limiting, but ultimately comes from the government and not the management. Management has done a great job procuring as much funding as possible from public and private sources. They have also done a great job recruiting top people and building awareness of the institution so that it stands out in the competitive space of non-Ivy league schools.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
