Advice to Senior Management
The divide between Montefiore and Einstein doesn't seem to make much sense. Is there anyway to completely merge the two institutions so that management becomes more efficient?
Pros
Nice academic atmosphere; conducive work environment . Post-docs are well organised. The management is now listening and trying to improve the living conditions for them.
Cons
Not much room for growth; post docs are not encouraged as much as they should be, in my opinion, though things are improving.
Pros
good superviser and lots of networking
Cons
small benefit and small chance to promotion
Pros
The university offers parking for staff. Many of the researchers are easy going and not high strung. And the salary is not bad.
Cons
Everything is bureaucratic. It takes too many steps and too much time to process the simplest of tasks. Many administrative people have held these positions for generations and must have job security as the often communicate poorly.
Advice to Senior Management
Require communication training to elder staff. Break down the bureaucracy.
Pros
Einstein is close to home , why is ideal for commuting and balances home and work life. Provides job security through the union.
Cons
Does not offer compensation for merit or opportunity for advancement in current positions. Does not offer promotions or raises.. In order to move ahead in a job, you must apply for a different position in a different pay grade.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow employees the opportunity to get raises based on merit and job performance, rather than having to apply to different positions.
Pros
Well respected institution, with many very good scientist and supportive facilites. easy commuting location, standard postdoc pay, collaborations sometimes encouraged
Cons
Very large, departments are separated with little interaction, no chance for advancement at AECOM, limited career advancement advice, lack of PI support in finding job
Advice to Senior Management
Provide inter department collaboration, provide an increased salary to attract better scientists, provide greater career advancement support for postdoc, ok
Pros
It can be a stimualting atmosphere to work in with people dedciatied to helping others. Job benefits were good and a real plus. Staff was available to answer quesitons and be helpful,
Cons
There is no room for advancement. Management was distant and there was little work recognition. Salary was relatively low as compared to other institutions.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership needs to be more hands-on rather than distant.
Pros
Very cooperative place. Good infrastructure, in terms of the facilities and equipments.
Cons
It is in the Bronx, even tough it's a nice part of the Bronx, it is still 1.5 hours from the city.
Besides that, everything else is great.
Advice to Senior Management
I am satisfied with management, I think that everything works efficiently.
