Pros
Good benefits, good balance between family life and work. Bonus is satisfactory. Their 401K is one of the better ones.
Cons
Lack of vision. Still unfinished debate after the Lucent Alcatel merger; two camps exist and there is no synergy in between.
Advice to Senior Management
The management should consider creating a synergy between Alcatel and Lucent camps and move forward for the success of the merged company.
Pros
- Good work-life balance
- Enough Training in Alcatel-Lucent University
- Better compensation and growth opportunity if you're with ex-Alcatel products
Cons
- ex-Lucent departments are not treated fairly. Salary increase rate has been far behind ex-Alcatel products. And even department did great performance, bonus was miserable
- Very bad travelling policy under high restriction under cost control.
- Too many engineers with decade experience and there's not so much opportunity for new employees to advance in leadership roles
- Work beyond expectation or extra efforts are not valued; no matter how good you did and how much you did, you get paid same.
Advice to Senior Management
I understood Alcatel-Lucent is still taking new market opportunities and we want to reduce cost as much as possible to revert the loss, but looking so many ambitious and 5-10years experienced R&D talents leaving in this half-year, I doubt whether this is the best place to work.
Pros
Not much work, once you understand their technology and streamline things.
Work life balance is good.
You can play ping pong if you like.
Cons
-Not much visibility into the future the company is heading from top Mgmt.
-Must be very good at office politics.
Advice to Senior Management
Always remember that people are your most important asset. Just don't say this as a catch phrase, but show it in your actions.
Pros
There is a lot of opportunity to travel in Alcatel-Lucent, and people are free to balance their lives as long ad they get their work done.
Cons
There is a lack of innovation in the company culture (not including the splendid R&D of Bell Labs, of course); rather, people there seem old, tired, and bogged down by useless, time-consuming regulations, policies, and processes. There are too many inflated titles, and managers managing no one.
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of useless processes that waste time. Inject fresh and young thinkers. Adjust to the times, and the speed that is required of a technology company.
Pros
They have the best products especially in transmission as compared to competition
Cons
They are not as customer intimate as they claim
Their tools and processes are the worst in the industry
Advice to Senior Management
Take the term customer intimacy seriously. Use better tools you can resaeach what is happening with competition concerning internal processes
Pros
1. Good package.
2. More projects coming to India from other countries. So lots of opportunities to grow in career.
Cons
1. Can think about the normalization for senior employees.
Advice to Senior Management
1. Competence based projects needs to be taken from other countries. Or training to be given to improve the competence for the team.
Pros
There are very low expectations of employees
The hours spent working are not closely tracked
Ability to work at home
Ability to moonlight as a taxi driver
Cons
No impression of a coherent local strategy
Management are invisible
Management by a web of absolution
Depressing working environment
Unimpressive stationery cupboard
Advice to Senior Management
Do what you say you want to do.
If employees are one of the priorities, do something to make this evident
Form a coherent, fully scoped plan
Pros
top 5 in telecommunication industry
Cons
no future to make a live
Advice to Senior Management
need to improve clear management origination
Pros
Easy job, easy money, easy come and easy go
Cons
Members of the senior management aren't quite there to run the organization
Advice to Senior Management
Get an education
Pros
Rather safe job, interesting project, office space is "OK" (though noisy at times). Benefit system is also alright. Mostly young colleagues.
Cons
Poor pay for the required qualifications and workload expected, somewhat absent management, Takes forever to replace people, which leads to increased workload for the rest of the team and poor performance.
Advice to Senior Management
Get to know the people you lead, understand that they are not just names and numbers. More information trickling down can't hurt.
