    I worked at Alcatel-Lucent

    Pros

Hands-on work. I worked on testing the Service Routers for a new feature. The new feature would be pushed onto the actual customer devices.
Lots of experienced people. Lots to learn.
Free lunch on Mondays and Wednesdays. Well-stocked snack room.

    Cons

Work gets slow sometimes, when a release isn't due anytime soon. But that was probably my case since I was an intern.

I worked at Alcatel-Lucent as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Just a great company to work with. I was a contractor from SCom. I enjoyed every minute working with/for Alcatel-Lucent.

    Cons

Can't think of any. I enjoyed every minute there. We got all the training on the Sprint installation we needed, and everyone was ready to help out if there was a problem.

Management is flexible & driven. You are challenged & rewarded for outstanding work. You may get the opportunity to travel & meet other amazing professionals in the industry. I have grown so much since starting with ALU. I could never thank the team of people I work with enough.

    Cons

None! My workload is hectic at times, but this is no reflection if the company. I am very pleased!

I have been working at Alcatel-Lucent full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great position with lots of flexibility working on latest technology. Work with great extensive global team and PLM organization. Simply awesome job to have with great management and strong corporate support.

    Cons

While just amazing work environment, technology involvement with a lots of SME choices, one huge negative aspect to this job is amount of work on each engineer’s plate. Consulting engineers are way over worked which poses a great treath to family life in general.

    I have been working at Alcatel-Lucent full-time

    Pros

Lots of opportunity for learning and working with experienced developers.
It's relatively easy to move within the company to a project you prefer.
Very flexible work schedule. In North America, you start with a very good amount of vacation, which is a good starting incentive.

    Cons

Lacks that young developer culture/spirit; the work style and environment leaves little room for creativity and innovation. Extremely slow growth in compensation.
