    Pros

Decent work-life balance, managers are flexible to work with your schedule.
Benefits are very good if you are covering only individual.
Vacations and other benefits are good (vacation, 401k small matching, dental)
CEO puts employees first, creates a caring atmosphere. Open door policy. Hope this continues in the future.
Food safety is a good cause.
    New office is nice.
Professional development made mandatory so workers don't stagnate.
Accommodating to give you resources needed (hardware, software, etc...).
Company growing, some depts. have opportunities to promote.
    Telecommuting is a major benefit.
Foosball, shuffleboard, and food at the office.

    Cons

Company growing, hoping the culture continues to care about employees as we become more corporate.
Hope that new and future execs will share the employee-first philosophy.
Too many projects - Impossible to stay focused on tasks as there is so much work going on.
Communication sometimes doesn't reach the right people. Can be a barrier to efficient work performance.
Expensive to add health care for dependents.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay focused on the future growth, but don't forget where we came from. The open atmosphere is one of the main reasons to work at Alchemy. As we add on new management make sure everyone shares the same values.

I worked at Alchemy Systems as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Great culture, people are very friendly and create a family like atmosphere for employees. Company is heading in the right direction in terms of growth and investments. Moving to a bigger office soon, with better facilities. As an intern you are exposed to many different company functions are allowed to use your creativity to think about business solutions in different ways.

    Cons

Executive Management turnover was counter-intuitive to company efforts to grow. However I do not expect this to be a major problem going forward due to relative company stability and financial growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Many times institutional knowledge was lost due to turnover. Since its a relatively small firm, a better on-boarding process to transfer information would lead to easier work in the future.

    Pros

The CEO is the pinnacle force of the company. If all of the members of the executive team had his set of core values, this would be a great place to work.

    Cons

About half of the executive team carries the core values of the CEO. Others are "in it" just for their own personal gain, which impacts how their respective departments either succeed or fail.

    Pros

Happy people makes for a happier work environment, an abundance of food and snacks, company sponsored massages, the perfect amount of travel. Interest in your professional development and an annual allowance for continued education.

    Excellent benefits.

Core values put employees first which leads to a good overall work-life balance.

Growing, thriving, innovative company with lots of momentum behind it.

    Cons

Long commute, not much else, the ability to telecommute makes up for this for the most part. Benefits while 100% paid for the employee can be pretty expensive to add the family to your plan.

    Pros

Shallow management structure, family feel, well-placed product. A fun group to work with. Everyone chips in to help when needed.

    Cons

Non-technical management (by and large, this may have changed). Rather than tweak things, they seemed to try to completely change direction every year or so, yet this rarely resulted in much.

    Pros

Small, laid back atmosphere, friendly executives and atmosphere, well organized.. quality monthly company meetings. friendly receptionist, most employees care about the general direction of the company.

    Cons

good ol boy management mentality.. takes a long time for change. Poorly run marketing department. Inconsistent management.. everyone is not treated equally. A tech company run by non tech people.. being smaller, lots of office politics and things that go on that shouldn't. run down office in comparison to other tech comapnies in Austin

I worked at Alchemy Systems full-time

    Pros

    - Salary was reasonable for a small company.
    - CEO is very caring about employees wants everyone to do well.
    - Executives willing to listen to employees input and do well.
    - Owners are willing to help people get what they need to do their jobs and open door policy.

    Cons

    - Small company so lots of gossipy type best to keep to yourself.
    - Executives lack experience due to being a small company.
    - Business model changed directions often before things could stabilize.
    - Sometimes leadership was too nice and let mid-level management run amok rather than deal with issues right away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick to business plan and don't try to go to many directions at once. Solid smart group of technical guys but, Sales and Marketing needed much improvement at the time. Lack of experience in those areas and hopefully that has changed.
