    Pros

If you are willing to put in the work, there was plenty of opportunity for growth. Administration and HR walk you through every step of each aspect of the job very carefully.

    Cons

The district was so large that it felt the expectations were a little unreasonable at times. Sometimes their philosophies conflicted in expectation.

    Advice to Management

For the amount of students, the student to teacher ratio is imbalanced. More teachers should be hired.

I worked at Aldine Independent School District

    Pros

The district is supportive and invests in appropriate materials

    Cons

Many students come from homes where the support system is lacking.
    Too many discipline problems

    Advice to Management

Teachers are trying and management should do more to appreciate the work they do.

    Pros

It's very convenient for anyone looking to make money on the side and can work well with children in the school

    Cons

As expected some of the kids are pretty disrespectful to the sub and can make a teacher not want to return to that school to continue work

    Advice to Management

The only advice I would have to give the district is to give a pay raise to the subs after a certain amount of consecutive days worked instead of consecutive days in the same class

    Pros

They do train in your content area. The kids are rough but over all you tend to have a strong connection with them.

    Cons

You don't have effective mechanisms in place to manage behavior of the students. You have big district problems as far as teacher appraisal and test pilot alot of different programs and don't stick with one thing so you never truly learn the system.

    Advice to Management

I have worked at 4 different schools in a span of 10 years and have seen so many different programs. I have worked at schools that were very trying as far a school climate. I think that would be the most beneficial area to try to improve on. It's rough when the kids respect teachers at times more than administration.

  9. District and School administrators are very numbers driven. Not educating students, but making test takers.

    Pros

The salary is OK for a teacher (1-3 years). Highest paid level of service is 20 years.

    Cons

Administration sets unrealistic expectations. Little student accountability. Most student are several grade levels below.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the teachers, and allow them to implement and maintain their own standards in the classroom.

    Pros

Able to utilize all of my talents and learn from new responsibilities I was given at the district.
