Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
Pros – Excellent pay, easy work load, exciting opportunity to build a new revolutionary aircraft, excellent tool supply, great location and company affiliation with joint aircraft manufacturing venture involving Boeing.
Cons – Management lacks the proper knowledge of aircraft manufacturing, severely unorganized, terrible understanding of lean manufacturing and supply chain management as supplies were frequently scarce. General disrespect for American workers using their power and influence to virtually berate and demean any American employee due to the fact that they paid well. It was not an uncommon sight to witness the public scolding of an American employee in front of hundreds hanger maintenance personnel. Management refused to listen to suggestions for improvement from experienced aircraft professionals with 10 to 40 years of aircraft manufacturing experience, especially when the situation clearly displayed their inexperience. Management gives the perception of poor employee relations with a track record of firing 8 minority workers in a row between August and September of 2007, with six of the minority employees being fired for less than legitimate reasons. If you are a minority working for this company, you will be constantly watched and followed, so it would be a great idea to make sure that all of your work is completed perfectly and in line with blueprints and technical data (which was rarely provided without some sort of difficulty) for any little mistake will get you fired. If you ask any aircraft maintainer, they will tell you that it is almost impossible to work without making a mistake.
Advice to Senior Management – Avoid conducting business in foreign countries if you can not conduct yourselves amicably in accordance with the host country’s' employment laws. Re-evaluate the experience and qualifications of your managers and engineers. The severe lack of experience in these critical areas of management, analysis, and design can formulate a recipe for disaster.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
Pros – good international experience and good job certainty.
Cons – Opportunities for growth but to a certain point
Advice to Senior Management – linked to political factors rather than meritocracy. Turnover too fast and mismanagement of Change Management
Pros – Alenia is the biggest aerospace company in Italy. It is well know worldwide in the sector and it has important collaborations with Boeing, Airbus, Sukohi and others.
The company is quite stable and, up to know, it did not incur in any substantial crisis.
Once you get inside, unless you are not so ambitious, you have found a lifetime job.
Cons – Not so much importance given to the professional growth. In some cases, it can take several years to get a promotion, even if you are brilliant.
The work environment is not the best among those I worked in.
The management is composed by old people, and tends to change too often.
Advice to Senior Management – To give more space to the contribution of young people.
