    I worked at Alexander Forbes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Due to the size of the department, there was the ability to take on a world of responsibilities. In terms of networking it was possible to meet some senior people. They will send you on CPD courses if you present a convincing business case.

    Cons

    Again, due to the department, it was possible that you could easily be taken for granted with more and more work piled upon you. Unfortunately at the time I worked there in order to create efficiencies in their IT infrastructure they needed a dedicated developer. As a technical assistant I did not have the background of a developer, but still developed databases to assist with the efficiency of the department, however the remuneration was not appropriate for this function.

    Advice to Management

    There was bullying in the workplace, having reported this to HR little appeared to have been done, other than sending the individual responsible on a training course. Advice to managment would be to pay attention to team morale and respond accordingly.
