Pros
This is a friendly environment
Tha administration is proactive.
The work and renumeration is rewarding.
Overall, a great place to work.
Cons
There are so many changes in healthcare and so the environment is uncertain. There are many takeovers in healthcare and Alexian is also adapting.
Advice to Senior Management
More transparency
Pros
Employees and staff are friendly, professional, warm, personal. They are passionate and compassionate when it comes to health care. It is a great place to work, and the hospital has won numerous awards for quality in health care.
Cons
It is not a magnet-hospital. There has been a lot of turnover at the administrative level and cost-cutting, which can be seen as good or bad.
Pros
The salary was competitive (and benefits awesome) and if you have any interest in the mental health field, this is a great place to get your feet wet.
Cons
Safety was sometimes an issue. Dealing with clients wasn't always a pleasant experience because they frequently are at their wits' end and really need help.
Advice to Senior Management
Put more emphasis on the safety of the employees.
Pros
Great flexability on balancing home and work. Excellent vacation time accrual. Many employees are dedicated and hardworking. If you're content to stay in one role then it is a good place to be.
Cons
Low wages with no career paths. How well a person is treated by the organization is related to their job title. Lower level employees are treated as disposable people.
Advice to Senior Management
Hard working and intelligent people become resentful or distracted when they don't earn enough to cover basic living expenses. Low salaries with no path for change results in good people looking for better opportunities.
Pros
They have an active HR as far as employee programs such as a wellness events. Salaries seem to be reasonable but increases are very small.
Cons
There is very little diversity in the workforce and it seems acceptable for management to make inappropriate comments. You have to wait 6 months before they allow you to take any time off. The culture is very much centered on who you are - I have had people say to me "who are you to schedule a meeting with me". Good luck trying to get anything done if you aren't high level. Promotion seems non-existent.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote a professional work environment and diversify your workforce. Apply the same values to your employees that guide the way you treat patients.
Pros
wonderful co-workers. Critical care / trauma experience.
Cons
pay is not good. too much work load.
Advice to Senior Management
Top of the department should have all the credentials and best knowledge.
