Pros
people have passion and very nice there
Cons
overwork a lot, sometimes don't have personal time
Pros
Dominant player in China ecommerce.
Cons
Incompetent management. The founder only knows how to BS. Middle management only knows how to kiss up. The CEO Jonathan Lu has strong business sense, though.
Advice to Senior Management
Be fair.

Cons
1) Growing company that has to pay more cost in internal management.
Pros

Cons

Advice to Senior Management
work-life balance should be improved.
Pros
Fun place to work in. Lots of transparency.
Cons
The chinese are very rigid. Its near impossible to get them to see your POV if their mind is made up but then again it tends to vary from person to person.
Advice to Senior Management
None really.
Pros
Alibaba.com has a good hearted people but being a Chinese company they are not in tune with US buyers. This makes working at Alibaba.com hard when you see so much potential but very few results or opportunities to help. Hopefully this will change with new management changes.
Cons
Eastern culture
Mandarin language office
Small satellite team in US
Technology and IT help is difficult at best
Lots of turnover with employees being laid off, fired or quitting
Leadership needs some turnover
Advice to Senior Management
Hire more Americans with experience leading other large companies
Pros
Business decisions not influenced by downturn in US economy. Annual bonuses and trips.
Cons
Loyalty is seldom acknowledged or rewarded. Unprofessional and duplicitous behavior is common throughout all levels of management (particularly lower levels). Recognition for achievement is often misappropriated, or misdirected.
Advice to Senior Management
Effective supervisory skills, recognize and acknowledge loyalty, remove personal bias from decisions regarding promotions, compensation, and assignment. Management should not be involved in unfounded gossip or blatant favoritism.
Pros
nice company atmosphere
opportunities to learn
good bonus
coffee offered
lots of real purchase data for research
lots of people.
Cons
too many working hours after job time.
always changing in company architecture and business.
too low salary, nearly 8,000 rmb (?1233)for master graduate.
too less entertainment activities.
Advice to Senior Management
raise payment for common employees.
less working hours after job time.
more activities after work.
pay for additional working hours.
Pros
1. You might have chance to visit China, especially Hangzhou.
2. You won't get bored with your job because things are changing every moment. One of the value at Alibaba is "Embrace Change".
Cons
1. Alibaba don't treat their employees right. You will have a lot of overtime without paid or compensation day, including working at nights, weekends, holidays and vacation days.
2. It is impossible to have a well balance of life if you work at Alibaba. Every time is changing. Everything seems urgent and important. At the end, you will sacrify all your personal time and relationships to the company. I saw a lot of real examples.
3. Your career path is really hard to grow at Alibaba. Alibaba believes that everyone can do anyone's job. They can allocate you to any position you might not be capable of. I saw a lot of Alibaba employees change teams and work at different positions horizontally which are not they are hired for.
4. Most of the Alibaba employees are inexperienced fresh graduated student. It is very difficult to work with and expect them to have some standard professional manner.
Advice to Senior Management
I hope the management team would take a deep dive on each employee benefit and right. Also, they should be appreciated with their hard-working employees and helped them grow. If Alibaba is a good company, no one would want to leave the company after a year or less.
Pros
Nice people and Big impacts.
Cons
Low salary and the work get boring...
