The financial situation created in 2008, made ALICO to go into a spin off process nevertheless it was a very profitable operation.
Advice to Senior Management
You did a great job. It was a pity that the company had to be sold to new investors. Look for a smooth integration with Metlife
Pros
Loved the people here at the company. However, now that MetLife took over, everyone was fired or took their severance package and left.
Cons
When it was part of AIG, it was fantastic. Now that it is under MetLife, they have mapped their organizational structure onto here and it is terrible. MetLife is a horrible company.
Pros
benefits are good. The people I work with made it better, not the managers though. Facility is good. Thats about it.
Cons
No support or guidance from the manager. No visibilty or career advancement opportunities. Shoot from the hip kind of approach to problem solving.
Advice to Senior Management
Respect, trust and empower your people. It will serve you good. Your insecurities are your own enemy. When you see your own subordinate as your competitor, its a pretty sad thing...
Pros
Be your own manager up to a certain extent. Control over the income you earn and time you spend working.
Cons
Unprofessional attitude of the managers with little technical knowledge of the policies.
Advice to Senior Management
Train your agents and put emphasis on customer service
Pros
- Good Work Life balance - 7 hrs per day working hour
No body asks you to work extra hours even if there is a large business impact.
And when there is a real business need which affects the company at the highest level...Then you are paid extra for any extra hours

- There are process documents to show to regulators for audit but nothing is followed, or embedded
- Managers have minimal execution power in the company.
- Company is not suitable for the Projects
- Project managers are useless
- Lots of politics
