    Pros

    - exciting projects - big clients - lots of interaction with senior employees - great people - good benefits

    Cons

    - compensation is a black box - hard to advance - HR is a nightmare - siloed - no support from senior management - will screw you over when they get the chance - not a place to be if you like feeling appreciated as an employee - no professional development whatsoever

    Advice to Management

Learn how to treat your employees like adults. Instead of having HR approach people teach employees how to directly communicate with people they are having a problem with. Hire more admin assistants. Analysts should not have to change the colors of text boxes in powerpoint. If you promise something when you are giving the offer, stick to it. Don't take a clause out of the contract they have signed and then have them sign the new contract by telling them there is a, "typo."

    Pros

Higher pay than what you might get from a competitor as there’s not much else AlixPartners can offer to recruit to tier candidates

    Cons

Whether you’re an experienced professional looking to make a move, or a fresh grad looking to start a new career, avoid AixPartners save you have no other options. I was recruited out of a top tier big 4 and was sold on a promise of a better working environment, greater autonomy, wider engagement selection, etc. AlixPartners has failed to deliver in almost every regard. At best, it is a third tier consulting firm and offers no real advantages over its higher tiered competitors. Contrary to its marketing material, the firm’s sole goal is to produce a higher volume of billable hours rather than quality client service. Utilization rules the day, and opportunities to move, laterally or vertically, are extremely limited due to the small nature of the firm. Alix however does not offer any advantage that you’d expect from a smaller firm, indeed the level of bureaucracy found here is comparable to a municipal agency. If you have an offer from one of the higher tiered firms, you’d do your career a no small favor by passing on AlixPartners.

    Pros

    - High Exposure to Management - Challenging Assignments - Bright people (lots of former C-level) - Good bonus - Excellent travel Perks (e.g. AmEx Platinum Card) - Trusted Advisor in the industry

    Cons

    - No career plan/training for junior people - Salary raise stuck at inflation rate - Undersized Human Resources - Very undersized Immigration Services

    Advice to Management

Invest more in support (Training, HR, Immigration Services)

    Pros

Great smart people, quick fast paced environment, client interaction from the first day for all levels of staff. Low base but compensates for it with overtime.

    Cons

No formal learning. No handholding. Some of the folks are micromanagers which is why it is important to pick the directors who you will be working for. No choice in the case that you want to work for. NO WORK LIFE BALANCE.

    Advice to Management

Encourage younger folks to take on a bigger role, give opportunities, have a formal training learning, mentoring program to help develop people.

    Pros

Work with bright and driven people, challenged on daily basis, good compensation, AP pays 100% of health insurance premiums, good dental and vision too

    Cons

Travel can be constant if you're in FAS. Life on the road has its pluses (nice meals, nice hotels, frequent flyer points and miles) but living out of a suitcase gets old.

    Advice to Management

Try to lessen the travel by making the teams larger

    Pros

Great to work at a highly respected firm, successful in the market, growing smartly. You get to work on great projects that "Really Matter" (firm mantra) to clients.

    Cons

Leadership is in evolution and teh firm is growing, there are growing pains in certain areas. But, leadership seems aware and is constantly communicating about programs underway.

    Advice to Management

Keep speaking to the staff and demonstrate action.

    Pros

    1. Free Snacks 2. Free Food 3. Computer equipment 4. Corporate Amex Platinum - with that comes great perks when traveling

    Cons

    1. No one team atmosphere, every practice operates differently. 2. Annual review is a complete joke, you can have a stellar year but if you are not buddy buddy with an MD. Forget about the promotion 3. Boy's club atmosphere 4. Work/Life balance doesn't exist

    Advice to Management

Go back to the values that Mr. Jay Alix believed in and make it a great company. Have a real formal process to review employee performance. Have an upward feedback program.
