I worked at All A Dollar part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    1) You pretty much have the same schedule each week- so that makes it easy to plan things
    2) The job is fairly easy
    3) The Store Manager is nice
    4) There's room to go up in the company if you want to become an Assistant Manager or Store Manager
    5) Their good about giving you the days off that you need

    Cons

    1) They clock you out for a half hr. lunch that you don't get just so the company doesn't get into trouble for not giving you your breaks
    2) Constant turn over of managers and cashiers
    3) You never get a raise unless you go into management
    4) They don't schedule enough people- you're line will go all the way to the back of the store (no exaggeration)
    5) Customers complain constantly about the really long lines and they still don't give you more help.
    6) They don't have a public bathroom which doesn't stop people from going into the "employees only" area- which you get yelled at over
    7) They make you do inventory at other store locations

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay employees better and stop switching managers around store to store.

I worked at All A Dollar

    Pros

Employees are the best part of the job
    Pretty kicked back atmosphere
    Easy job

    Cons

    High turn over
Managers sit on their butts all day long talking on the phone to their boyfriend/girlfriend, friends, or go outside and smoke all day
Upper management treats employees other than management like crap
Management will clock you out to take a lunch but you never actually get to go on a lunch break
    Very understaffed
They'll have one to two cashiers scheduled at a time so you always have a very long line of angry customers
Employees always pull no shows or come in late which means you have to stay longer

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more employees, treat employees better
