I have been working at Allant Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company has a wealth of marketing knowledge. There is a lot of innovative thinking going on. The marketing services landscape is always changing and Allant tries to stay ahead of the curve. With this come many new and interesting challenges. There is plenty of opportunity to get involved in innovative development.
Allant is shifting its business focus and they still have a lot of work to do. But there is light at the end of the tunnel.

    Cons

There are many employees that have been with the company for many years. Although the company depends on their extensive knowledge and experience, they sometimes work with out-dated methodologies and technology. Communication could be more open, and there is a tendency to be re-active rather than pro-active.
Technological leadership is not as effective as it should be.
The company is still spending a lot of time and money on legacy one-off solutions for relatively small clients, often with a single individual responsible for support.
Quality assurance is a much under-represented discipline within the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make some tough decisions on discontinuing support for legacy solutions.
Invest in modernizing the core infrastructure and quality assurance.
Create a culture of open communication and pro-active operation. Get rid of bad practices.

I worked at Allant Group full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice office space. Some indoor parking available at no charge. Hard working employees in the client-services ranks that are dedicated to delivery and serving their clients. Company newsletter started in 2014.

    Cons

Executive management team has been unable to deliver on goals for the last 4 years. Private equity management team takeover has resulted in more of the same. Departures of significant clients continue and management passes blame to everyone but themselves. Toxic employees and politicians flourish here as management rarely takes action.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop relying on fantasy sales opportunities and manage the business that you have. Not the business that you wish you have. Hold people accountable.

    Cons

    Pros

Updating business model as well as look and feel. They are a leading contender for analyzing set top box data in the Cable Television Media Industry.

    Cons

New leadership is making some fair incremental progress in re-branding, but need to illustrate consistency as well as transparency in their future strategic plans with the internal operations.

I have been working at Allant Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The Company is starting to get into some very interesting technologies and has more focus on products. The management of the company has improved significantly this year, providing a clearer direction on where the company is headed and providing more focus on what it does best. There is good energy in the office, and even skeptics are starting to believe business is on the upswing.

    Cons

Still are a lot of legacy systems in the business that have to be supported, so not everyone gets to work on the news stuff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the open communications, and provide long term employees a career path from old to new.

I have been working at Allant Group full-time

    Pros

Allant is an applied technology and data analytics company. Employees have the opportunity to work on cutting edge projects, and the culture is down to earth, stable, and stimulating. There are not any huge ego or leadership personality or overall cultural issues. The new CEO (as of early 2014) has made a huge difference. The company is more and more focused on TV and Internet advertising.

There aren't many companies that have been around as long as Allant, and stayed independent. The momentum recently has been very positive, and the concentration on TV and advertising technology should create lots of opportunities for employees.

    Cons

The company has tried to do many things relative to its size, and this can create challenges as people are pulled in different directions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep and increase the focus, do fewer things and do them even better. Keep up the increased level and frequency of communication to employees.

I have been working at Allant Group full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

People executing the day to day work have good experience in the direct marketing industry from a number of places. Many people here came from Acxiom.

    Cons

The company has tried to operate like one of its larger competitors without the finances to back that type of operation. As a result, numerous layoffs and a tough environment in which to be effective since you're constantly wondering if and when you'll be next to be let go. Senior leadership claims they're being open with employees about the health of the company, but the numbers just don't add up. There is also no career path for people looking for growth opportunities. I was in a meeting with senior leadership where they said that they were looking for people with specific skill sets and weren't interested in developing current staff. The individual overseeing my department feels there's less than a handful of people he really cares about - as if morale wasn't bad enough at a company who relentlessly requires you to work after normal business hours and on weekends without reprieve. The employees constantly sacrifice their lives for this company and management has no appreciation for the work people are doing. It's a shame. This used to be a great place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have no words for what's going on here. Senior leadership does not care about what the employees have to say. I wish them luck in retaining staff in this kind of environment. Recently, 9 people left in 2 weeks. Management should know this is directly a result of the company's operations, environment and morale. They make work life miserable. Enough said.

I have been working at Allant Group full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Nice people (mostly).
Great office space and suburban location.
    Free on-site health club benefit.
Excellent access to senior leadership and opportunity for anyone to make an impact.
After a couple painful years, executive leadership is changed in 2014.
Finally seem to be getting house in order.
    Much improved communication.
Clearer and more realistic vision for the business.

    Cons

Rapidly changing industry with many larger, more sophisticated competitors.
Business plan for growing and adapting the business in recent years was a bust, with many rounds of layoffs - each followed by scores of painful resignations.
Tradition of custom solutions for every client and disappointing IT leadership has held back this company's potential to evolve and scale its business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the much improved communication and clarity of vision.
Continue push for more accountability from Account Management, Sales, and IT leadership.
Avoid further resignations by rewarding top performers and proving that future business goals can be met.
