    Have witnessed many changes

Registered Nurse (Current Employee) Pittsburgh, PA

ProsGreat location, salary, parking (on site and off), highmark making it better

ConsNursing union!! Contributes to struggle for managers to make staff accountable....Don't want to deal w "grievances". Pay a lot of dues.....no worth. Nursing is no place for a union, especially a non nursing/non professional union

Advice to Senior ManagementDissolve that union!
    Uniforms! (Not white)

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

ConsWork load is extremely heavy with low moral and unsafe situations.

Advice to Senior ManagementLow moral and heavy workload are driving employees out of pittsburgh

    overall great place to learn

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsBeing in the union helps a lot... I feel management would do whatever they wanted ( good or bad) to nurses if it wasn't there

Consupper management basically puts "band-aids" on things and doesn't actually fix the problem

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Bad administration, financial instability

    Physician (Former Employee) Pittsburgh, PA

    ProsOther doctors share your struggle

ConsPoorly run financially, management reacts rather making calculated moves. No physician/ employee loyalty.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere are still some good doctors and nurses there. Take care of them, and they'll take care of you. You let a lot of good doctors go in the past years. It's a mistake that you're still paying for. It is more productive to evaluate and mentor young doctors rather than continuously try to replace them in hopes that the next batch will better serve your needs. Doctors don't grow on trees.

    Transparency. Enough said.

You'll never be UPMC. Stop trying, it's foolish.

It's like riding a roller coaster; there are ups and downs, fast paced, and an adrenaline rush.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Pittsburgh, PA

ProsGain experience because of the level one trauma status, flexibility of shifts and scheduling

ConsShuttle you to and from work, health benefits have declined over the past few years

Advice to Senior ManagementMake employees feel valued for their dedication, commitment, and service to the organization instead of feeling like they're replaceable.

Allegheny General Hospital as a learning experience.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThis is one of the best Hospitals to learn in, and it is always ranked within the top 100 national hospitals.

ConsIt seems that requests can take time to get taken care of, however in today's day and age it is tough to allocate funds.
