I have been working at Allegra Direct Communications full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Paid training to be CSR for Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance. Valuable experience you can take with you.

    Cons

Training pay currently $8. per hour. Get $1 raise when hire permanently. We make half of what a actual BCBSM CSR make. Very strict with attendance policy. Get points for absence even if sick with an excuse. They have no problem letting you know your purpose to answer phones and make money for Ceo. No retirement plan

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take how to manage classes

I have been working at Allegra Direct Communications full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The pros are that you learn the ins and outs of health insurance. I knew absolutely nothing about how health insurance worked and claims until I cam to this company. You are able to work full time hours with the occasional overtime, but that's only when they need you. It's a job and you have to do a lot to actually be fired from here because they desperately need the help.

    Cons

There are several cons about this company. The pay is bad (you start off at 8.00 and you have to work your butt off and beg for even small increases). You can paid vacation time but personal time and sick time is unpaid and you RARELY get that approved. It's very easy to accumulate "points" against you for tardiness and when you have to leave because like I said, you seek approval for time off and rarely get it but your life does not stand still because of Allegra. No one properly calculates or keeps track of the points so it's pointless to even worry about them. There are monthly meetings for improvement but you don't get anything you ask for at the meetings so you don't want to give the company 100% for them to accomplish their goals. The bathroom's are disgusting and reek all the time, the floors are never vacuumed, and who knows how often the lunchroom is actually cleaned. The communication in the company is so poor overall it's no wonder their many goals for the company and the employees are never met and probably never will be. It's a huge catch-22 and I'm very tired of the same thing at this place with no improvement. Save yourself the hassle of applying.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management needs to communicate much better with the owner and the owner needs to listen to and properly evaluate the suggestions she is given to improve the company and the relationship with the client. Lack of communication is a major part of the problem. This is constantly acknowledged but no real steps and effort has happened to really improve this. I can't wait around anymore for these empty promises with this place and many of your other representatives will eventually feel the same and find something better themselves.

    Pros

Great customer service experience if you like helping others. You learn about medical insurance.

    Cons

Lazy management, less pay for more work. Training does not last long so some important information is not covered until you start taking calls.

I have been working at Allegra Direct Communications full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There is room for advancement and you get great call center experience. The hours are very flexible and reasonable. The Troy location is very convenient to anyone from the west or east side of metro Detroit

    Cons

The pay is horrible for as much responsibility they want you to take on. The management is poor and they are not loyal to those employees that are actually there to work and make a difference with the company. They do not keep their word on the quarterly reviews you should have or the pay increase. The owner is not polite and she's there on daily basis just to look you in the face and not speak. They do not take care of there employees they rather you work until you blue in the face rather you sick pregnant or have a death in the family. The rules does not apply to those that are favorites and they still under pay you rather you've been there for a year to 3 years. They rather see you leave than pay you good money. They loose loyal people due to the owners greed!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be considerate, treat the employee with dignity and respect. And pay them what they deserve not what you think they deserve. If the client knew half as much went on with this company they would not do business with you.

I worked at Allegra Direct Communications full-time for more than a year

    Pros

In depth training program, paid weekly, job security, opportunity to move to different departments for more experiences, overall comfortable working environment, opportunities for overtime (especially around holidays) established good relationships with other employees.

    Cons

Very underpaid (8.00 starting) lack of communication between upper management and owners, owner is very rude to upper management and more rude to employees, difficult to earn paid time off, lack of feedback from upper management on job performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees more and make them feel valued as they are there. Offer incentives for more PTO. Treat your employees with respect and try to establish relationships with them to create an easy to work in environment.
