    Pros

American made quality product. Engagement of leadership team.

    Cons

A lot of work with less people. Since AE started lean process last year, its made it a more difficult place to work. There's a lot more expectations with less people. Most supervisors are very nice, but a couple of them are difficult to work with and work for. I would recommend working here, but be aware of the Supervisors at Set-up and Custom. Employees that work in those areas, will eventually leave.

    Advice to Management

Stop the Lean process soon!!! It will make it a less stressful place to work. Keep a close eye on those keep areas like set-up, and Custom line.

    Pros

Most of the non-executive people are really nice to work with. Discounts on products. You get left alone--ignored, really, if you're doing your job.

    Cons

Not much opportunity for upward mobility. Pay and raises are not stellar. Private Equity ownership--clock is reset every few years. There's just not much to keep someone there.

    Advice to Management

I think they're doing what they can but it's simply not an attractive place to be.

    Pros

Small company used to give you freedom of sales approach amongst other things.

    Cons

the company has been bought out couple times within a ten year span. so management and sales staff is under pressure by corporate.

    Pros

A lot of the people working there come in every day to do their job and do their job well. They keep positive attitudes through a lot of the corporate issues.

    Cons

Upper management doesn't have it together, several execs should not be in management. They may be great at their respective job, but their overall management and people skills or not. It also seems that making a simple decision takes long periods of time and nothing is ever final...it will change in one day, two days...a week...a month...several months later. One of my biggest concerns is HR doesn't protect the employees, if an employee has an issue and tries to go to HR about it...they will give the person it involved a "heads up" that there was a complaint or grievance and from who. The employee who is trying to find resolution then has to deal with retaliation from the other person and the unfortunately the issue will go unresolved.

    Pros

Solid company to work for. Good schedule to have a balanced life.

    Cons

Unfair treatment from HHRR and senior management

    Advice to Management

Be neutral, analyze every aspect of complaints, I was treated unfair by HHRR and Senior management.

    Pros

Allen Edmonds gives you the tools to succeed, and doesn't micro manage. They create a superior product, and stand behind it and their people. A great culture of empowering and promoting from within.

    Cons

The lack of micro managing is also a double edged sword. While it is liberating, there tends to be time that lower level staff is left out of communication regarding company strategy and direction.

    Advice to Management

Paul and Al are doing a fantastic job, they understand the people, product, and what it takes to be successful and are succeeding. I would not change anything and would continue to stay the course.

    Pros

You get discounts on merchandise--not just Shoe discounts. Nice people you work with day-to-day. It is a friendly atmosphere most of the time.

    Cons

Limited mobility & very tight inner sanctum. There is a certain pressure to get things out, get things done and it makes it difficult to do your best work. Very strong orientation to make numbers, less so to make great shoes.

    Advice to Management

Not a great place, not bad.

    Pros

My boss was very supportive - he has a" corky" personality but he was a fair boss.

    Cons

The work long hours 5:30am -4:00pm - Monday thru Thursday. Friday OT as needed. We were told that we had to work Friday's at the last minute. It makes it difficult to plan our days.

    Advice to Management

Consider scheduling Friday's in advance, maybe automatically schedule everyother Friday, so that employees can make plans for Friday, after already putting in 40 hours - M thru T

    Pros

Employees are proud and passionate about the product. Leadership is engaged, and really care about the employees. One of the first time I deal with an HR staff that is very caring and understanding. The HR leader has a heart!!!

    Cons

No tuition reimbursement; consider having part-time hours for manufacturing.

    Advice to Management

Continue being engaged, and exploring different innovative ideas for Company to continue growing.
