    I worked at Allergan

    Pros

Great Benefits, Corporate Culture, and opportunities for travel. Most positions require a graduate degree, yet they are known to make some exceptions for years of experience.

    Cons

Located in Orange County, in Southern California, so very high cost of living. Long commute if relocating to more affordable housing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more opportunities to males and to minorities.

I have been working at Allergan

    Pros

The company is well respected by the patients we support with our products. Internal team support is, across the board, structured and evolving. I appreciate the learning opportunities and my colleague's expertise. Our senior managers are approachable. The growth of the company is indicative of its reputation.

    Cons

This is not really a 'Con', but individuals working at Allergan stay well informed of what is described as challenges in this industry and carefully address issues faced in this year and years ahead.

I have been working at Allergan full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The culture at Allergan is very entrepreneurial. You see little bureaucracy in the office and there is a strong can-do attitude and everyone focuses on getting things done. It's very hard to hide behind red tape here.

The office is very international - you don't find a dominant British culture here. Especially at the management level I'd say there are even more non-British than British - from all over continental Europe and also quite a few Aussies. People value what you deliver and are very result-driven, especially in the Commercial area including marketing and sales.

    Cons

There has been some degree of complacency due to the success where the company has outperformed the Pharmaceutical industry for more than 20 years. Leadership is too comfortable with the success and is not innovating its business model. Also with the relatively small size compared to the giants such as GSK or Pfizer, there is little room for innovation fund - which makes the culture very project centric. This means the strategy can be short-sighted with less investment for long term growth.

Thanks for the positive comments. We believe the international focus of the Marlow office is a strength for us - and we hope that Actavis will address your growth query.

I have been working at Allergan full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Amazing corporate culture, strong pipeline with heavy emphasis on R&D, and great group of people to work with. Performance based rewards...high functioning and demanding.

    Cons

Large geographical territories, administrative duties can be a task (but that's normal for all companies).

    Pros

Beautiful campus, great location, lots of flexibility, no micro-management, professional coworkers and many opportunities to work on several different projects.

    Cons

Compensation and raises may be lower than other companies. Hard to move up without a PhD if you're in research. Overall, this company has great company culture, although in the past few years, it isn't as apparent as it use to be.
