    Pros

Biggest pharm. company in Socal - they have buildings that take up an entire lot! Lots of perks such as cafeteria, gym, great view, rich people walking everywhere. Very very nice security guards though.

    Cons

You are nothing but a number unless you're upper management. No personal 1 on 1, but rather anonymity in work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more 1 on 1 to the lower end of the workers.

I worked at Allergan full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the best colleagues I have ever worked with.
    Stayed busy.
    Decent compensation.
    Beautiful headquarters campus.
Top management was very smart, very lucky, or mix of both. They could dive into a pile of manure and always come up with a rose.

    Cons

    Before purchase by Actavis:
Very political despite veneer of gentility. Brown-nose and don't rock the boat, and you will be rewarded
If you are ambitious but have the wrong manager, your flame will be extinguished if you stay. Be prepared to move on.
Weak CIO must have taken leadership cues from the Obama administration. Poor judgment used in assembling IT management team.

    After purchase:
If you seek employment in R&D or Manufacturing, you're good.
Advice to those seeking employment in IT, Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, Distribution, and Legal: look elsewhere until Actavis figures out how to digest this whale along with the other unfinished integrations from other recent acquisitions. You will no longer be at the center of the universe.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Actavis:
    Keep R&D and Manufacturing intact.
Encourage R&D to find something other than the botulinum toxin on which to build the future.

    Pros

Salary, gym and nice campus in Irvine.

    Cons

No room for growth, they only promote once in a while and then you have to be with the in crowd. Too much politics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

New blood is needed in middle/senior management. Maybe Actavis so help resolve this!!!

    I worked at Allergan

    Pros

Excellent pay for the work performed. Great facilities and benefits. Great people to have on your teams. Manufacturing in Costa Rica makes company travel a bit more exciting.

    Cons

Bonuses are paid on poor metrics. Paid out on completion dates not if the product actually works. This sends the wrong message to the whole corporation. Lots of long term employees that resist changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change metrics for how employees are rewarded for not only keeping projects on task but that they actually work as intended

I have been working at Allergan full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Marlow is very international. The people are very committed and expert in what they do. It's very results orientated but there are real opportunities to get noticed - it's not a place to hide!

    Cons

Very hands on - but this is for all levels. More flexibility in working practices have been announced but not seemingly happened.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work more in harmony across regions - if an initiative is announced in the US, the EU teams expect this to also happen here!

I have been working at Allergan full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The employees at Allergan are friendly, and are willing to help out whenever they can. Allergan provides plenty of training, and if you feel that you have not received enough on a certain task, they are more than willing to provide more until you can perform your duties correctly and confidently. Allergan expects things to be done to correct way, no cutting corners. They take pride in the products they make, and want to deliver only the best quality to their patients.

    Cons

Lots of overtime, most production departments work weekends, and all holidays (except for Christmas, so far)
    Poor communication
    Lack of team work
    Understaffed and overworked
More promotions come from external hires than from within, you can be in the same position for years. More work is added, but no monetary compensation in return.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When employees come to you with a problem, do your best to fix it. If it is out of your reach, go to the next level of management to resolve the issue.

    Pros

Great benefits, great colleagues, beautiful campus, and awesome resources for employee advancement.

    Cons

Since the Actavis take over, Allergan has put people's lives on hold. Many people have left and are planning to leave-due to the uncertainty of the future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None-management is great.

I have been working at Allergan

    Pros

The company is well respected by the patients we support with our products. Internal team support is, across the board, structured and evolving. I appreciate the learning opportunities and my colleague's expertise. Our senior managers are approachable. The growth of the company is indicative of its reputation.

    Cons

This is not really a 'Con', but individuals working at Allergan stay well informed of what is described as challenges in this industry and carefully address issues faced in this year and years ahead.
