Pros
Not a lot of overtime, good balance between work and family/personal life. Growth company that performed fairly well during the recession and is poised to expand into the next decade.
Cons
Below average to average compensation for non-manager associates.
Advice to Senior Management
Quicker turnaround on talent evaluation, goal setting, feedback.
Pros
Pay is decent and they do have prescribed career paths. Plus there are a lot of decent people working there.
Cons
Decent pay, but forget about communication from middle and upper management. They will not talk to you but will willing take credit for all your work.
Advice to Senior Management
Get your heads out of the clouds and realize that it is the people who show up everyday and do their jobs that are responsible for your succes
Pros
They were fairly flexible with time off, although there were some times I had to go fight with HR over getting employees' time off approved. Benefits were good, I did not have to worry about healthcare costs. Good e-learning system with opportunities to increase your skills.
Cons
When you tried to implement the parts of their "FISH" philosophy like have fun or make the customer's day, you were reprimanded for going outside of the support boundaries, off script, or playing around. It was very obvious that they did not take customer needs seriously. They were more interested in telling us various ways to tell the customers NO than to fix their issues. Hired a diverse floor staff but management, not so much.
Advice to Senior Management
If you are going to implement a corporate philosophy, make sure you implement it in reality, not just writing your employees' names on fish banners and think it is a fun place to work.
Pros
Easy work, decent hours, incredible pay for just answering the phone. lots of overtime available if you want to pick it up.
Cons
Take a LOT of verbal abuse from customers, if management doesn't like you for any reason they will find the smallest detail to fire you over while others get away with literally breaking the law.
Advice to Senior Management
if you're going to fire someone over an "ethical" violation, how about you provide correct procedures to your associates. On top of that, how about you treat everyone equally across the board?
Pros
Everyone is very nice and the company is doing great despite the economy. You always know where you stand and management is helpful.
Cons
Upward mobility is not very strong. You know where you stand but there is really no fast track to the next level in most departments.
Advice to Senior Management
Create a program that handles career track, so employees can look ahead. This will really help with people looking to plan their future as an employee here.
Pros
a good company to work; comm from management is smooth; open environment; good at balancing life and work; most people are friendly and nice
Cons
some departments have low efficient; management is very casual - good to people but sometime not good for work; comm between depts not very good sometimes
Advice to Senior Management
go to talk with associate and listen to some advice; improve management while keep doing the good things; pretty much that is all i can say
Pros
Work/life balance is generally respected here. Management doesn't frown on PTO or sick time. I've never seen a PTO request denied as long as I have been employed here.
Management is very receptive to new ideas and unique insight. They value each associate's strengths and encourage creative thinking during problem solving activities.
This is a very "nice" culture. People are typically friendly. Senior management makes an effort to know the names and faces of their worker bees.
Cons
It seems very political in the office these days. Not sure if this is in response to the terrible economic climate we are facing or just the result of the new leadership appointments. Also, the saying, "Perception is Reality" is unfortunately very true here.
Advice to Senior Management
Insist that each department is managed to the same set of standards. Teach managers to be accountable for their decisions and their actions. If you want lower-level associates to be accountable for the work they need to have managers that set that example.
Pros
Great Work/Life Balance, Reasonable Benefits, Paid Time Off, Acknowledgement of Employees that do a job well done, growth and development opportunities, Tuition Reimbursement
Cons
Depending on location, may have to work weekends.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue growth and development opportunities for employees
Pros
Good culture. Strong executive team. Highly ethical. Very focused on associate satisfaction.
Cons
A recent attempt to take the company private fell through and derailed the company for a few months. Now we have to put that behind us, refocus and continue to out perform our financials - which hopefully will convince Wall Street that we remain a VERY strong and well run company with a VERY bright future.
Advice to Senior Management
The associates believe in your abilities.
Pros
Great progression opportunities for first time professionals
Cons
Not as attractive for career growth in senior level positions
Advice to Senior Management
Provide career planning and growth opportunities in senior positions. More diversity in leadership positions
