I have been working at Alliance Shippers

    Pros

Fellow employees are hard working and always eager to help.

    Cons

No one in upper management to go to for assistance in day to day operations. Sink or swim environment. Employees not valued and are expected to bend over backwards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider taking management courses and learn employees day to day operations so you can part of their team. Learn how to value your current employees. Owner should visit NJ operations office and make drastic changes for the benefit of the company.

I worked at Alliance Shippers full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If I had the option, I wouldn't give this company ANY stars. Trade your pride and dignity for a paycheck.

    Cons

Poor Pay. No Bonuses. No Raises. Immature, childish management, who pick fights with employees. Building is molded with ceiling tiles falling down. Dirty office and bathrooms. One bathroom to every 15 employees. Lack of office supplies (you may need to bring your own - they don't even supply pens). Vacation days given will need to be used towards snow days because the office doesn't ever close.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow up. Act your age. Recognize and compensate good employees. Watch how you speak to people, employees shouldn't be abused and spoken down to. Try promoting from outside the company rather than family members who will take advantage.

I worked at Alliance Shippers full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

It was a paycheck. Met some great co-workers. Job security because they have trouble holding onto people.

    Cons

1% pay raise every two years regardless of your performance. Uninspired, unhealthy work environment. Stress level very high for the positions offered. No room for advancement leading to high turnover rate and constantly training new employees. Lack of professionalism in management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to be more people friendly and find some positive in the work employees do for you. Get to know exactly what your employees go through on a daily basis.

I worked at Alliance Shippers full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great work/life balance and decent hours. Opportunities to pick up overtime on weekends.
    Learn a lot about dispatching.

    Cons

Extremely low pay. No room for career advancement. Low office morale. Did I mention extremely low pay and no room for advancement?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more positive feedback to employees instead of only talking to them when you have a complaint. You'd be surprised how far that will go for morale.

I worked at Alliance Shippers full-time

    Pros

    Close to home, good salary.

    Cons

No comparable raises, no perks, no overtime, favoritism, does not favor tenor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Owner needs to visit other offices often and on surprise visits. There really should be a HR department that is for the employees and not just for the employer.

I have been working at Alliance Shippers full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

nice people in the office, other areas have much more support and proficient managers in comparison to my own department. Other teams would probably rate much more favorably/

    Cons

team manager is a mess and extremely difficult to get along with, workload is nearly impossible, office morale is horribly affected by that, lack of management and consistency in processes and policies, an ongoing pay freeze (inspite of increased traffic and record revenues) to name a few factors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company is literally throwing money away on the team mgmt.. overhaul and start at the top (speaking only for my team) you do have great talent working for you, most of the issues are from leadership. Implement goals and benchmarking tools toward reaching them, then reward those who accomplish. Create and enforce clear and concise job descriptions, operating procedures etc. work on streamlining most processes to ease crosstraining and fix the gross variations in workloads between teams and individual employees.

    Pros

    office is close to home

    Cons

management is awful, benefits are awful, owners do not show appreciation to employees unless VP status

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

act like management instead of picking and choosing friends. management should not be going to lunch everyday with the same employees. Favoritism.

I have been working at Alliance Shippers

    Pros

I learned a lot and had a couple of really great mentors.

    Cons

Zero company contribution to 401K leads employees to not have a "this is a forever" career company.
