    Pros

More laid back environment (cube decorations, jeans day, etc.)
    Benefits start day 1
    Start off with 21 PTO
    Get banking holidays off
HR does good job of putting events for employees (ie: giving out pies for Thanksgiving, holidays party, etc.)
The company has a 501(c) foundation

    Cons

Company can be reactive to certain things as opposed to proactive
Not all of upper management is approachable
Needs more diversity, especially on the management and upper management levels

    Advice to Management

Overall, I think it's a great company headed in the right direction.

    Pros

Great Salary, Great Vacation Time, Full Benefits

    Cons

Management makes poor decisions without caring about current employees or history. Focus on Off Shore Development, open door policy with closed ears, unrealistic vision without thought of return on investment, disengaged staff with low scores for management, politicing and force-outs are prevalent, supported by HR and expected, over-spending in IT

    Advice to Management

Consider your employees first. If you keep losing them and forcing people out, you'll be sorry with what options you have left. Actually take the time to do serious vendor review so that you don't come out of member's pockets for failed decisions on applications and architecture. Do some research on Overseas Development and consider the size of your company before you go into that management mess.

No place is perfect, but the cons certainly outweigh the pros at ACU.

    Pros

Benefits are fantastic. 100% match up to 5% on 401k. PTO and holidays are plentiful. After-hour support/expectations are very reasonable.

    Cons

While IT's upper level management have an open door policy, the high number of conferences they attend generally negates this policy. Perhaps a low ball estimation would be about 30 conferences a year. Also, there's a definite lack of direction. Big ideas each week/month derail current projects. The hot project this quarter may not even be a thought the following quarter. It makes it difficult to stay focused. Lastly, Offshoring has become more prevalent with an even bigger push approaching. Many coworkers are seeing this as a red flag.

    Advice to Management

Drop the quarterly meetings touting successes and stop answering legitimate questions with double talk. Keywords like transparency are often used by management, though rarely practiced. A more honest conversation would be appreciated.

    Pros

Not For Profit, long term relationship with United Airlines is really the only positive out of this company. The other positive for me is I'm no longer affiliated with them and in a lot better situation.

    Cons

Everything from Sales Managers that are bogus to lack of corporate vision at the Senior Level. Long wait time for clients are always common where Teller Lines are short staffed because of inefficiency. I even used to catch tellers sleeping in offices during breaks in front of clients. Service Representatives are almost forced to sell credit cards regardless of the need for these long term clients. What ever happened to financial institution being client focused and service minded? The managers enforce sales metrics that creates corruption among peers and the platform incentive programs.

    Advice to Management

Fire Yourself and hire individuals with Integrity.

    Pros

The company culture focus is on our people and our membership. You quickly learn how you can be part of something bigger, helping people, which is very rewarding. Alliant is a lean organization, so everyone gets to make a difference. If you're a high performer, its great to know your colleagues are working just as hard as you. If you're not, you learn to quickly up your game which is a chance to develop professionally.

    Cons

It can be a long interview process, but that is designed to give both the candidate and Alliant an opportunity to determine if it is a good fit at all levels.

    Pros

Most of the employees have a member centric focus and are a pleasure to work with. The work life balance is better than average.

    Cons

In the last few years they have brought in management who have changed the culture into political in fighting and back stabbing. The member focus has been lost and has changed to personal agendas. Some upper level executives attend so many conferences they are out of the office more than in.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to act like a big bank and move back to a member centric focus.

    Pros

good benefits and pay, good loan rates

    Cons

management tries to do too many things with few people. particularly the finance department is notorious for burning people out and having a high turnover. there is no recognition for hard work and there is a lot of favoritism played around.

    Advice to Management

be more honest and realistic and recognize the good work
