Only regret is I didn't leave sooner.

    Pros

You get a lot of autonomy on how you can do your job from a day-to-day basis.

There is a lot of to opportunity to add value because the company is so unstructured.

Decisions are typically made using gut feel, so if you can articulate ideas with data you can be very convincing.

    Cons

The promotion process is nontransparent and hard to understand.

Overall salary, bonus, and benefits are very poor and substandard to not only the waste industry but other industries overall.

Professional growth is minimal as frankly, there are not a lot of smart people working at Allied Waste.

The company is largely focused on year-over-year incremental growth and not really thinking about the big picture strategy.

    Pros

Hourly, non-union hauling division. Great set of employees. Loved the teamwork. I absolutely loved this job.

    Cons

Had 3 bosses or supervisors with equal rank. Final authority was with operations manager hundreds of miles away. He did not care to know anyone nor wanted to have anything but 'good numbers' come his away. Confusing structure. Wasn't like that when I started but went bad while being bought out by Republic. That might be the reason why they threw away the whistler and the crook at the same time. Painful lesson in ethics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be so quick to circle the wagons around a sketchy manager against labor. Many laborers do care about their jobs and the shareholders (and much of labor are shareholders).
