I have been working at AlliedBarton

    Pros

Some of the pro's of working at AlliedBarton would have to be that it's an easy job and of course that is always nice.

    Cons

The job can be really really boring at times. I cannot tell you how many times I wanted to gouge out my eyes due to boredom.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your act together! You have great people working for you...yet you continue to squander all but most of them!

I have been working at AlliedBarton full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are looking for a stable job, then this is the right place for you.

    Cons

They promise a chance for advancement, but do everything to keep you from moving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a career path designed for your good officers (people). I have seen management type people leave due to the lack of advancement.

I have been working at AlliedBarton full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Different schedules available
    - Nice training program

    Cons

    - Leadership is poor
    - There is usually low morale at various sites

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If security officers request training to advance, it should be honored. Try not to string officers along with broken promises for opportunities, pay, assignments, etc.

    Pros

MY SUPERVISOR IS COOL AND THE ACCOUNT MANAGER FOR THIS PARTICULAR SITE IS A NICE PERSON THEY ALSO PROMISED PROMOTION INWHICH PROVIDING THAT YOU DO YOUR JOB AND COMPLETE MODULES / PUT THE TIME IN

    Cons

A COUPLE RED FLAGS 1. SHORTED ME MONEY TOOK A MONTH TO CORRECT IT. 2. they value the accounts more than they employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

treat your employees equal as the account at hand if it wasent for the employees you wouldnt have security officers to fill the account remember no company is built by it self it took the help of others to build it if you treat your security office like crap then crap will come out lol.....

I worked at AlliedBarton full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed the work, the station I was situated at was busy, and enjoyable. Pay was fair (Til office politics got in the way, explained below)

    Cons

The upper management were all friends from the military, anyone outside of military were paid less. No negotiation skills from the CEO, would let companies talk him down on pay for guards. Guards at my station were promised 11, and that jumped down twice to 10, and eventually 9. No raises given, no promotions even for highly decorated guards. (We'll award you multiple times, but won't give any benefits for your loyalty. This was someone else who worked for them 11 years, not myself, I'm non biased)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep things neutral, give equal pay and opportunity to advance, but make sure to advance those that work for it.

I worked at AlliedBarton part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Plenty of job opportunities and plenty of job sites that need security officers. Easy to get a security job.
Can be a nice quiet job for college students working night shifts.

    $2 above minimum wage...

    Cons

Difficult to make a career out of it.
Pay is usually very low and starts in some places at 10/hr.
So much responsibility for life and safety of all people and buildings under our care.
    Stressful at times.
In the five years i worked with them there was no possibility for promotion whatsoever. The contract site i was working at got rid of any performance bonuses or attendance bonuses. Raises were generally around 25-50 cents a year.
I dont know how anyone looking to provide for a family can get by

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allied Barton Edge does nothing for the security officers who dont take it seriously. Training should be more one on one with managers and supervisors than relying on an online quiz platform.

Pay your employees more. These people are on call 24/7, responsible for the lives and properties of your clients and they cannot get by on 10 dollars an hour. The only people who have made a career out of security are managers and supervisors who can at least afford to get by.
In my five years at my site I saw such a high turn over rate,

    Pros

Pretty good training. You will get trained in a lot of things and possibly certifies in certain things as well.

    Cons

Management is sometimes unavailabile and seem unconcerned about the day to day operations. Employees can sometimes be hard to work with.

Great easy job for colllege students

    Cons

Its not rare you're more intelligent and have better people skills than your superiors. It gets frustrating but thats how it is. There's no actual job security a lot of that rides on management which sucks.
