I have been working at AlliedBarton part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good/acceptable starting pay at certain sites, you can't argue with being a floater at 2 sites and getting paid 12.18 at one and 12.50 at another, however the work itself gets depressing at times for a broke college kid.

    Cons

    •No jumps in salary/average pay.
•Incompetent and lackluster supervisors (Captains & Lieutenants are lazy doofuses)
•Lack of supplemental supervisors (no extra ranks like Sgt./Cpl./ etc.)
Lack of good equipment (Cheap Radios, •Poor quality uniforms, and apparently; we aren't allowed to carry cuffs/mace/batons so it's already a downside to work "unarmed security" with them)
•A power hungry ex-cop account manager who is ill-equipped to run the job, let alone know what private security really should be.
    •Gossip...a lot of it....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

•increase wages, stop cutting the officer's value salaries in half so corporate can take a cut.
•Change the rules for the company and stop making site by site exceptions and let your officers be well equipped for the high-risk job they've taken; let them carry cuffs, mace, a baton, flashlight, on their belts even if they provide it on their own cause you will never know when they'll need it, they're no...WE are out in the field daily, and encounter incidents which warrant them but we don't carry anything; we respond with what we have at our disposal, our hands and a radio.....fix this....
•Allow for a wider rank structure; I'm not saying go paramilitary like some security companies but give the officers something to be proud of.
    •get better non-illiterate supervisors.
•Provide better uniforms, provide company patrol cars to mobile/flex sites instead of renting golf carts & increase wages!

I have been working at AlliedBarton

    Pros

Jobsites generally keep Allied Barton for long length contracts, typically 5 or more years.

    Cons

Officers easily fired for negative situations beyond officer's control or a problem that is easily corrected.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide training on how to recognize and avert sleepiness particularly at quieter job sites or where an officer works alone.

I have been working at AlliedBarton full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

as a site supervisor I am granted special privileges and authority to run my post. I make the schedule provide the discipline and. I am the leader and not the led.

    Cons

I assume full responsibility for the post and everyone within it. This is sometimes a burden as frequently I am needed to cover the post and even on my days I will be contacted with various issues

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

management should pay these people who run thier post fairly. At 11.00 USD per hour the responsibility is some times not worth the compensation. You should also provide your supervisors with the necessary equipment and create an avenue that supervisors can use to get equipment as needed.

I have been working at AlliedBarton

    Pros

Very approachable company. There is a constant reminder to do the "right thing". The rules are spelled out well and training is always available, EDGE online training. Whats great about the company is you have the opportunity to better yourself no matter where you are in life and in many different aspects of your own being. It has very sound and prosperous values. Focus mission statement and projections. One thing I admire of ABSS is the ABSS Customer Intimacy badge.

    Cons

My friend just moved to my state and got a job at a chick fil a. We started the same time. We were paid the same when we started, now he makes more than me ( 3 months passed). Not that it's all about money, but peoples lives / property vs. a sandwich seems out of perspective.
Be prepared and learn to adapt. Even though pay is not high, expectations are! It can be jarring to your feelings and very stressful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Good job! Very good company! Probably not a long term career when pay is comparable to entry level fast food work.
