    Overall good place to work.

    Internal Medicine Physician (Current Employee)

ProsVery good colleagues and staff who genuinely care for patients.

ConsLarge organization with typical management strategies that seem more of a waste of time. Not always the best support.

    Advice to Senior ManagementListen.

Would work here because of the money, but only part time...

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGreat pay and flexible hours if part time. Perfect for college students!

ConsPeople in the department are very unprofessional, and the work environment is not very organized.

Stable job and good pay but patience is tested

    Staff RN (Current Employee)
    Saint Paul, MN

ProsGet your required CEUs for free and while getting paid. Many locations to choose from.

ConsOverload of required learning/training in areas not related to your job. Over abundance of management and meetings. Management always talking about losing money but unwilling to listen to workers feedback. Very low supplies due to cutbacks make patient satisfaction of care difficult

Stay away. 2014 is a restructuring year.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsCompany has a solid reputation as a health care leader and provider.

ConsCompany has been hit with significant budget shortfall, positions have been eliminated. Company wide layoffs took place even though CEO said he wouldn't do so. Staff are being asked to do far more with less support and direction. Is not a good company to work for until budgets are restored to normal levels.

    Professional Judgment

    Registered Nurse (Former Employee)
    Maple Grove, MN

ProsWonderful caring staff. Willing to do extra to help the clients and each other.

Consmanagement asks that you use your professional judgment to perform the responsibilities of the job. the reprimand you when they don't like the decision you make. Micro manage staff. preform work metrics on positions that can not be measured by metrics. expect work to be done in a time frame too short to give quality patient care, puts patients at risk with budget constraints and policies.

Advice to Senior Managementlet your staff do their jobs without watching every move the make. happy employees make for happy customers. constantly watching your budget and counting your pennies does not make for a relaxed and happy staff.

A place to learn, grow, advance......

    Customer Service Representative (Current Employee)
    Saint Paul, MN

Proshelpful co-workers, great pay/benefits, for the most part, awesome leadership, plenty of opportunites to advance....overall, I had a great experience with this company!!

Constraining is not the greatest, due largely to the fact that Allina provides a number of different medical devices and equipment and keeping up with them and the different criteria/documents required for insurance coverage can be taxing.

Advice to Senior ManagementMy advice would be LISTEN TO YOUR EMPLOYEES!!!! It never fails to amaze me how in a lot of corporate amercican companies, they are constantly looking at ways to improve process or redefine the mission, yet they do it amongst themselves, not with the folks who do the work daily. Instead of a WIG, take that time to sit with employees to get suggestions on improvements, they know better than anyone

    Patient Care Manager (Current Employee)

ProsThe people are great and expectations are fair

ConsCulture can be negative at certain hospitals

A good company with advancement opportunities.

    Certified Nursing Assistant (Current Employee)
    Coon Rapids, MN

ProsThey offer competitive wages, benefits, and tuition reimbursement. There is flexibility with work schedules and the ability to pick-up extra shifts.

ConsThere are some inside politics when it comes to job offers for internal employees. There is also lack of accountability when it comes to performance issues getting addressed.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more aware of work flow, employees actions, and behaviors by observing them during their shift.

A good company overall, but lots of red-tape and far too protocolized

    Staff Pharmacist (Current Employee)
    Saint Paul, MN

ProsThis is a financially strong company and most jobs are very stable. Good retirement benefits (especially if you stay a long time), good health care insurance and generally good collaboration amongst the different departments

ConsThere are far too many protocols and rules to follow. Managers really don't think outside of the box and usually they want you to simply "follow the protocol" as opposed to actually think for yourself. Getting new initiatives approved takes a ton of unnecessary work - it's nearly an act of Congress to get simple things changed. Also, if one hospital does something, all the hospitals have to do it the same way, even though patient populations vary quite a bit between locations. The protocol based system is really not always the best in healthcare.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere needs to be policies in place that allow for more flexibility to determine the best plan of care for each individual patient.
