I worked at Allscripts full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

People are great there. Flexibility. Ability to work from home some days not all. Great health insurance

    Cons

Learn on your own. Management does not care about workload. Knowledge base is bad. Promotions based off how long you worked there not skill level. To many managers that do not know the product. Takes one year to go from contract to full time 90% of time. Lots of India hiring shifting more to moving jobs there. 3 lay offs in the one year I was there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More support for your support. Acknowledge good work more.

I have been working at Allscripts as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Health IT is constantly changing so the challenges never end--nothing monotonous about the work. Many of my colleagues are off-shore and I enjoy the cross-cultural dialogue.

    Cons

Because the context of Health IT is constantly changing, there is a constant need to catch up to what is going on. This can lead to confusion about who is doing what. With a large company, such communication can be difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As always, communicate with everyone at all levels to get a better understanding of the actual employee culture.

I worked at Allscripts full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    1) Culture is very open. You can approach to anyone, irrespective of position.
    2) Good payment package.
    3) You are allowed to surf anything you want. Directors and managers encourage you to add them on facebook and watch informative videos on youtube.

    Cons

    1) Too much focus on numbers rather on quality.
    2) Some teams have huge workload, while others have very less workload.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1) Distribute the workload.
    2) Focus on quality rather then quantity.

I have been working at Allscripts full-time

    Pros

Small Team so can get experience on trying lots of hands on stuff. Great Team and Great Managers. All very helpful and supportive.

    Cons

Less opportunities to grow. Also being on client site, not very connected to AllScripts growth opportunities. Job is very operational instead of strategic or management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need more exposure to AllScripts wide company so that can find more opportunities to grow.

    Pros

    Ability to Work from home
    Fast Paced, Always Changing

    Cons

    Management is almost non existent
    No positive Feedback
    Micro Management
    No team work
    No raises (even though promised)
Bonuses are a lie, unless your upper management
    No opportunity for advancement
    No Support

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The same focus you place on cutting corners, and saving $1 should be placed on customer service for employees and customers. Now, I understand why so many customers were no unhappy and feel misled. Also, you should keep good, hard working employees instead of favoring those who befriend you and your colleagues.

    I worked at Allscripts

    Pros

Good location in Raleigh, near many places to eat. I had amazing peers and the loyal clients we worked with were really great.

    Cons

I worked for Allscripts for several years. I saw the culture and business practices devolve greatly. The client is secondary and that's not how it was years ago. They went through a string of executives over the years, all of whom came in wanting to make significant change. They hired executives and senior management who were not people focused. They often had layoffs focused on position eliminations vs. getting rid of low performers. Because of this we were often left with knowledge gaps and people who were not performing. I often received complaints directly from clients as well. If you are looking for career advancement it is hit or miss at Allscripts, but mostly miss and dependent on who you know and who likes you. We were not allowed or encouraged to get outside or industry training that was needed to maintain our skills. When I first started it was truly a great place to work. However, the loss of committed executives who were focused on improving Healthcare and taking care of our clients and their patients changed that completely and made Allscripts a miserable place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about the employees and the clients.

Current Employee - Technical Project Manager

I have been working at Allscripts full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Employee Policy are good. Open door policy, easily to reach to hire management for concerns. Good amount of attention for employee satisfaction. Main work-life balance. Regular good training programs.

    Cons

There are training programs but technical programs are only location specific. Politics in management, lacks in leadership. It is hard organization to advance within.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please stop people who are doing dirty politics for their advantage. Please ask those managers questions why they take too much work load despite lots of defects causing buggy product. Show career growth opportunity to people by providing good advice where they can improve. Trust your direct reports.
