Pros
great paid time off, pension plan, decent opportunities for growth, good location, and loyalty to current employees. Overall, not bad.
Cons
Poor 401K matching, limits on who moves up and who doesn't, horrible working hours (12+ hour days is the norm), low employee moral.
Pros
The benefits package is pretty good. I like the PTO days and the ability to buy more days. Colleagues re friendly.
Cons
Poor Leadership. They speak of inclusion but when it comes to letting the employees know what's really going on they fail miserably.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote the right people to the right positions. Reduce Big Wig bonuses for the good of the company. Stop the secrecy. Work harder to increase employee morale.
Pros
Reasonably stable company, well-known, going to be difficult to lose your job if you do it well (for the most part).
Cons
Poor environment. Didn't like the direction the company was headed, shrinking, profitability issues, executive management not all aligned on the same page.
Advice to Senior Management
If you want to retain top talent, you need to have a more compelling value proposition. Moving back toward "market equivalent" will get you more and more average.
Pros
Investigating, evaluating, negotiating and settling claims was a rewarding experience.
Cons
For promotions there was a premium based upon politics (who likes who) and not performance competence.
Advice to Senior Management
There isn't a premium put upon employee performance.
Pros
Benefits
Pension Plan
Paid Time Off (PTO)
Work/Life Balance
Knowledgeable people
Discounts from vendors
Employee Network Groups
College Tuition Reimbursement is okay
Cons
Diversity Inclusion is lacking
Disrespectful managers
Promotions go only to favorites
Salaries & Raises are not competitive
Workload can be stifling
Advice to Senior Management
Start working on all those promises and plans. Start valuing your employees more and start respecting and accepting diversity of thought, action and words.
Pros
able to own your agency
Cons
they trat you like an employee with out benifits
Advice to Senior Management
listen to employees, agents, and the public
Pros
High income earning potential.
For the most part you can be your own boss.
Cons
To be successful you will need to make a large capital investment.
Must be prepared for a lot of work in the sales field.
The company is not loyal to its agency owners and will fire them if they do not meet multiple requirements that change and are often unclear.
Advice to Senior Management
You really need to provide predictability to your Agents. They need to know what to expect in the future if they are going to plan for it effectively.
Pros
-For the most part many nice people working within the company.
-The agents I've worked with the exception of the new one I'm working with now taught me a lot.
-Good entry level position.
-PTO is decent if you can use it.
Cons
-stressful work load
-Customers no longer matter, how do I look when telling my loyal customer that due to their good credit and safe driving record your policy renewal increased 92% oh and it's because of the area your live in.
-Unrealistic goals.
-Working with my 4th Allstate independent agent after the previous three where forced out or forced to retire for various reasons.
-Over worked 10 to 12 hour days are the norm for me. Leave on time and become the black sheep.
-Unpaid morning meetings
-Terrible benefits package.
-Actually using said PTO is a task in itself. It took me 7 months to finally take a my weeks vacation as there was always something within the office preventing me from taking it.
-Profits over employees and customer loyalty
Advice to Senior Management
Flushed them all out, destroy and rebuild, but I don't think they'll do anything until it's too late.
Pros
I had many great learning/growth experiences that led me to my career of choice. I learned a lot about myself, what I am passionate about, and the style of leadership I thrive under. I had good opportunities to hone my technical and leadership skills. The people are wonderful and nurturing for the most part.
Cons
Who makes the decisions on promotions? Rewarded heroism as opposed to strategic planning. My offboarding from the company is a complete joke. I'm now 8 weeks from when I gave my 3 week notice and I'm still dealing with HR on issues. When I left, I had an open mind about coming back. After this last experience, I would never go back by choice.
Advice to Senior Management
BE RELATABLE - you seem like you're in your ivory tower with NO pulse on reality. Challenge each other to be bigger and better instead of being too scared to say anything at all. And if you tout your people are your greatest asset then TREAT them that way
Pros
Competitive salaries, great benefits, career advancement and great people to work with
Cons
In recent years, Allstate has lost its way and employee morale has suffered due to multiple layoffs over the past 4 - 5 years.
Advice to Senior Management
Change is good when it isn't done for change's sake.
