I have been working at Allstate full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It depends on your agency owner, but in all, the people are nice and professional.

    Cons

For lower level sales personnel (LSP), the income potential is very limited. Usually a tiny base plus commission. You can only get ahead if you buy an agency, but the opportunities are limited--good old boy network. Most other P&C businesses are the same.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be realistic and recognize that your management model isn't working anymore. Market like Geico and you'll do much better.

I worked at Allstate as a contractor for more than 10 years

    Pros

Its a large successful company but they seem to be on the down slide as they struggle to compete.

    Cons

incompetent field sales managers, most of whom have no real experience in the field. They become an agent for a short period of time, maybe 4-6 months, so they can say they were successful in the field once they become a manager.
What is done while they are in the field is writing policies for all their families and friends and themselves. to be fair they do write policies on the public as well.
This is not real world experience, so in effect they don't know how to manage the agency force.

I worked at Allstate full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you like to go to work at 3pm and get out midnight, this is the job for you, can make money, if you sell policies to customers that call for changes or complain. If you get fired, go apply for unemployment benefits, you will get approved, IF you kept a record of ALL INTERACTION WITH MANAGEMENT AND TIME KEEPING ,and ABSENCE ISSUES.

    Cons

If you want to work for this company, WRITE DOWN OR PRINT SCREEN EVERYTHING. They will fire you without any notice, just call you to a little office and won't even let you go back to your desk, someone will put your stuff in a white box, which will be waiting by the lobby area, next to security guard, when you get done listing to your manager explain why you got fired, it will always be some computer time keeping software, that says you are out of time. By the way they will bad mouth about you to potential future employers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat Employees with Respect and Dignity, FIX YOUR TIMEKEEPING SOFTWARE, AND STOP USING IT AS AN EXCUSE TO FIRE EMPLOYEES THAT YOU NO LONGER WANT, OR GOT SICK DUE TO WORKMAN's COMP ISSUE, BUT YOU FIRED THEM ANYWAY WITH THAT EXCUSE.
