I have been working at Allstate

    Pros

PTO time and the ability to adjust shift. Other than that there wasn't much that is all that great about the job.

    Cons

Management in my department is inept and prefers to ignore problems than deal with them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in employees that are competent and give work to them that is challenging.

I have been working at Allstate

    Pros

    Flexible work arrangements
Good benefits, including paid time off
Some managers work to improve the careers of those they manage

    Cons

Pay is still stuck in the "increase with loyalty/time spent with company" rather than the "pay top contributors top dollar to keep them."
They continue to increase the workload but state they cannot increase the resource count.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put people before money and you will get your money's worth.

I have been working at Allstate part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Big Name Company
Products priced very competitively in some markets that the company wants to focus on.

    Cons

very difficutt to assemble several products for one individual that are all competitive because the company refuses to insure a lot of things commercially and prices other polices too high.
worthwhile training is near non existent and field support staff that are useful are extremely rare.

I have been working at Allstate

    Pros

The agency owner was very good about setting up gatherings and social outings outside of work which helped to relieve the pressure of work.

    Cons

A very stressful environment always dealing with tense angry customers, meeting sales goals and crunching numbers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please be mindful that people have lives outside of work and sometimes things come up. We are all grown ups and all professionals here. No one is trying to take advantage. We have earned PTO and there should not be a guilt trip to use it.

    Pros

They have great technology backing them that is at the disposal of every agency staff. You would not find an easier binding /quoting system anywhere else.

    Cons

Unless you are the agent this is an impossible career selling insurance. And don't get me started on the lack of Life insurance support.

    I worked at Allstate

    Pros

Depending on the manager, they can be flexible with work life balance

    Cons

Benefits used to be good, but costs have increased so much that you pay nearly what you pay getting your own coverage. Salary stinks, with negligible increases. Newbies no longer get a pension. This company recently served Blue Cool Aid at a Christmas party in champagne glasses. They went from having the party at a nice restaurant, to holding it in their cafeteria. CHEAP with VINDICTIVE managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The world is changing folks. Fleecing customers and employees will come to an end for you. When newbies come in, they are promised the world, but you do not deliver what you promise. You need to change your culture!
