    Pros

This company has very a very good working environment and I enjoyed going to work everyday. Personal circumstances forced me to resign, but if I had the choice I'd work there again

    Cons

Th health plans are not the best I have seen but besides that I have nothing else that stands out to me

    Advice to Management

Look for or expand more benefit opportunities for all employees and make them available as soon as possible.

    Pros

Brand recognition. The ability to own your own business. Great signing bonuses, support, training. You can make a very good income. You own your interest in your book of business.
You can test out every idea you have ever thought your previous boss should try.

    Cons

You will need about $50,000 to start. Make sure your rates are competitive for the area you are wanting to start your agency. Marketing can be difficult when you are getting started. You must find new and creative ways to market your agency.
Staffing will be the most frustrating part in owning your business. Master this and the marketing piece and you will do great.

    Advice to Management

Give more leadership training and staff management training, at the beginning. Once your agency is open, you don't have any time to learn this part. Therefore, most agents must learn the hard way on finding the right staff to build their businesses. See cons.

    I worked at Allstate

    Pros

A great training program, coupled with a reasonable starting salary, the property adjuster opportunities at Allstate are something to recommend. Allstate will spend the first 3 months of your career training you in all aspects of property adjusting including policy, estimating using the Xactimate system, and customer service. They will also pay for all fees and 3rd party schooling to get your state specific adjusters license. One could not ask for a better paid program to begin a career in adjusting. The office environment is friendly and the facilities are top-rate including a gym, cafeteria, dry cleaning, convenience store, park-like outdoor environments and even bicycles.

    Cons

The workload is a bit unreasonable assigning anywhere from 5 to 12 claims per day once you are trained and depending on the time of year. This leads to a frantic workday. Rarely will you get to take advantage of the excellent facilities as you will be chained to your desk and phone. This inevitably leads to quick burnout for many otherwise excellent staff members, which leaves the office chronically understaffed.

    Advice to Management

Hire more adjusters so the workload can be spread out. Increase the starting salary if need be to attract talent.

    Pros

I absolutely loved working at Allstate for many reasons:
The manager that I had was an incredible leader and one in which I learned many skills.

    Cons

It seemed to me that there were a lot of meeting to get a solution to a problem. I would like to see more decision making done in a shorter period of time.

    Advice to Management

There is a lot of layoffs at Allstate so my advice would be to ensure that all of your employees have marketable skills so they can find another job if laid off.
