Former Employee - Research Intern in Nicholasville, KY

I worked at Alltech as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Coworkers are great, the site in Nicholasville is gorgeous, and the work is interesting and challenging. There is also a variety of research going on and it's easy to pick up a little about each topic. Presentations and journal reviews help to keep everyone informed.

    Cons

I only worked as an intern but I did not see anything that I would consider a real downside to working here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep making sure everyone has the tools they need to succeed.

    I worked at Alltech full-time

    Pros

It is easy to get involved in a lot of different projects and events. There is definitely no micro-managing here, even in entry-level positions - because there is too much to be done. It's a great place to gain valuable work experience and work with really smart, interesting people.

    Cons

The pay is low and there is an expectation for people to be working at all company events/late hours without any comp days. There is a lack of leadership.

  6.

I worked at Alltech part-time for less than a year

    Pros

There is a lot of excitement and always looking to improve the company. Try and keep a big family feel among employees and like all are involved.

    Cons

Some employee drama and favorites. Happens everywhere but some departments appear to be treated better than others.

I have been working at Alltech full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Plenty of work available, specialized industry with good products and steady demand.

    Cons

Poorly managed. To much indecision concerning operational problems and lack of honesty dealing with public enities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix your problems with a concrete plan first, then pass blame later.

I worked at Alltech full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good pay. The benefits start right away.

    Cons

Bad Schedule. The supervisors have very little idea how to handle things. They use temps too much. Heard they don't pay from when person clocks in but when shift starts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When adding an extra 30 minuets to shift make sure the incoming shift knows when to start work.

I have been working at Alltech full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Benefits are good - 2 weeks of PTO and 3 personal days/year, increases after 5 years of employment, computer, good health insurance, bonuses

    Cons

Don't feel I have much room for growth in my career, pay is not great

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Standardize the salaries and job descriptions. Training program (Back to Basics) is not applicable to all workers so it is a waste of money to send some; tailor training to departments instead.
