Too good a staff for an unprofessional company

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Barcelona (Spain)

ProsSuch a lack of input from managers that you won't feel like people are watching over your shoulder. You can screw up unnoticed.
Good team of people otherwise, from translators to most PMs.
Not a bad atsmophere, not a good one either. You go to work, you leave, that's it.

ConsCheap company, cheap office set up, chairs, printers, everything is cheap-o.
One of the most incompetent PMs of the industry in charge of big projects.
    No professional communication.
No respect for freelancers (6 to 9 month delay in payments).
Total absence of organization. Nothing is set up correctly, from resources to IT-related processes.
    No office culture.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of the obvious incompetents, promote (and pay) the ones who aren't, invest in some good quality equipment from softwares to furniture, pay freelancers decently and on time.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsParking space, nice people, close to the river, fancy building :D

ConsNo payment rise for years, empty promises and so on...

Advice to Senior ManagementThey should appreciate the fellow members... it seems if you leave and come back the only way to get a raise...

    A miserable place to work

(Former Employee) Cambridge, East of England, England (UK)

ProsThe salary is decent. There is a kitchen with fruit, coffee, tea, sugar, and milk. They have assigned parking slots.

ConsDo you have personality? Ideas? Values? Are you passionate and enthusiast about what you do? Then, stay away from this company. Late payments, lazy managers, employees should be evaluated more.
A must for bootlickers and backstabbers.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet some fresh air...

Nice enough but only for so long

Translator/Reviewer (Current Employee) Cambridge, East of England, England (UK)

ProsNice colleagues, flexible hours, good work experience.

ConsUnless you're happy to stick with your starting salary, Alpha CRC is not suitable as a long-term career option – apart from a pat on the back and some vague promises, there's no recognition for those who work hard and go beyond their quota.

Advice to Senior Management"Why would I give more than I need to, when I'm not given anything extra in return?"

When you don't reward an employee who is able to produce a higher-than-required volume of material, that employee will stop making that extra effort and so the company ends up losing hundreds of translated words per day. Doesn't seem like a good way to run a business.

Nice people, flawed workflows, bad salary

Translator (Current Employee) Cambridge, East of England, England (UK)

ProsPeople are generally very nice and the atmosphere is relaxed and open. You feel like all kinds of issues can be discussdd with your manager.

ConsYour manager will most likely not listen. Salaries are bad and have been frozen for most people for quite a while, despite a few "exceptions". Chronic payment issues with freelancers make the company look bad in the eyes of the translation business. In general, employees don't feel valued.

Advice to Senior ManagementValue your workforce and be more open to new ideas. Specialize.

Company's structure and workflows need to be rethought

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsAlpha CRC has interesting clients. The atmosphere in the office is very familiar.

ConsOnly little career opportunities. Workflows are not developing as fast as the company does, as they must not be criticized.
Management should be more open for their employee's needs and problems in their daily work. Issues are seldom solved in a constructive way.
