    Software Engineer

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsLot's of freedom to pursue a variety of projects. The pay is above average, and the pay increases occur once a year.

ConsWe are out by the airport, so there isn't anywhere to eat lunch nearby. Also, commuting by bicycle is a bit of a problem.

Advice to Senior ManagementReward good software developers with pay greater than the cost of living (3%).

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Prossalary was competitive. felxible work arrangements when needed

Consvery political, cant trust anyone. everyone seemed to be out for their own gain. no sense of team.

Advice to Senior Managementpractice what you preach.

    Good People, Satisfactory Operation (Bellingham)

    Analyst (Current Employee) Bellingham, WA

Pros-The company is rather stable while retaining a small friendly culture
-There has been quite a bit of autonomy in both of the positions I have held
-The company does as much as it can to retain working employees

Cons-Somewhat polarized; difficult to progress without working your way into sales or having a strong engineering background
-Starkly contrasted business units do not integrate well together and make for a confusing and inefficient infrastructure
-Deep rooted political structure makes for erratic workflow cycles

Advice to Senior ManagementThe largest challenge in any given day is sorting through what has become a very sprawled out business. By utilizing the existing tools (SAP) in a broader depth much of this frustration could be minimized.

Does management know what they are doing?

    Engineer (Current Employee) Bellingham, WA

ProsOne of the few professional employers in Whatcom County.
A mix of start-up and long-term, stable experiences available.
Co-workers are easy to work with.
Continued growth even through the recession.
    Decent benefits.
Minimum overtime for salaried positions. Good work/life balance.

ConsManagement has no idea what I do on a day-to-day basis.
Management promises one thing to the customer, and expects engineering to make it happen, regardless of what is actually possible.
Management does not listen to its employees.
    Low salary.

Advice to Senior ManagementActually listen to your employees. They work directly with the customers, and have valuable insight into customer relationships.

    May become a local powerhouse.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThey are a fast-growing company. They are expanding rapidly and there could be room to advance shortly. They are also growing a local brand, presence and reputation.

ConsThey are experiencing some growing pains from expanding so quickly. There are not clear policies in place and even less training. There is not consistency.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep the talented people on the bus.

    Lost Opportunities Company

Senior Electrical Engineer (Former Employee) Burnaby, BC (Canada)

ProsLots of Test equipment. Very slow-paced engineering development work. Good place to learn practical electronics (Hardware) and embedded (software) debugging.
It was number 2 (Lower mainland-BC) in 2000 among electronics manufacturers. But soon lost ground to Xantrex-Schneider. Lots of free time for look-busy-do-nothing.

ConsOne of the worst top managements i have ever seen in last 10 years (US + Canada). Some good-for-nothing have control over engineering development. Junky managers have really taken things from bad-to-worse.
Unable to fill asenior power electronics engineer position since last 10 years. They use the same advertisement (again and again) with different recruiters.
They will fire you one week before your annual bonus is due (It is their standard practice).

Advice to Senior ManagementDo a project which is achieveable, rather than reverse engineering half finished designs of other companies. Find a Team lead who has worked in US on product design development. Give him full powers for choosing the design AND donot interfere.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
