Pros
It can be beneficial to a point
Cons
They don't treat all employees equally
Pros
This is a progessive company with excellent products. This company is excellent an servicing their customers.
Cons
The company is not very patient with their salespeople and if you don't stay about quota then there are consequences.
Pros
lots of freedom and room to move up in company.
Cons
long hours, a lot of demand on route drivers
Advice to Senior Management
take interest in employees needs
Pros
Potential to make as much money as you try to make. A very independent job, no boss looking over your shoulder, you are out driving a delivery route, so the only time you have for a boss to hawk over you is before you leave and when you come back. But if you do the job, you can get in and out, and have a stress free work place.
Cons
Well the weather is a big part of it. Snow/Sleet/Rain you have to deliver the product. Also, you are encouraged / rated on your upselling abilities. It's kinda awkward at times, "Hey Customer, would you like to smell our new Mango-Tango Urinal Cakes?"
Advice to Senior Management
Well, there is very little potential for promotion. That isn't saying that your pay won't go up, it's just saying that after driving a loud truck for a few years, you might be ready for a new working environment, which means a new place of employment.
Pros
A Stable company that will provide long term job security. It does not take much to become a high performer. Very relaxed with light workloads and people are generally nice. A great place to work if you want to punch a clock and keep it as an eight to five gig.
Cons
A high deductable, self insured medical and dental plan is the only option and it is prohibitively expensive for non-executive employees with families. Poor overall benefits package with old antiquated processes and systems. Old school family leadership that leads to nepotisms, and a lack of opportunity that can be downright hostile. Education, pedigree, or job performance is not valued as much as tenure. Bottom line, it’s a good job but does not provide any challenges, opportunities for growth or advancement.
Advice to Senior Management
Get with the times!! If you fail to adapt you will not have an adequate succession plan. If you want talented leaders in the pipeline you are going to have to sac-up and change or pay for it. Otherwise Alsco will continue to only build marginal shareholder wealth and will continue to be a mediocre company that will never become anything great among its peers.
Pros
Salaries commensurate with skill and amount of work. Excellent benefit package. Outstanding training. Opportunity for advancement. Work within designated territories. Quality company with extremely competent employees in Production, Sales, Customer Service and Management. All elements of business plan addressed and revised in detail on an ongoing basis. Technology oriented with environmental issues addressed. Sales training unsurpassed with product knowledge, ongoing sales training and comprehensive packaged sales-training seminar.
Cons
Heavy competition for market share from Canadian Linen, Cintas, G&K Services. No Sales Coordinator or Sales Assistant. No residual commissions. Customer Service staff overly busy and not oriented to Outside Sales support. Sales territories dishonored. Outside Sales called on to support Customer Service duties and functions including A/R Collections, Deliveries and New Installations. High turnover (100 Percent) of new hires of Outside Sales staff after 6 months. Inconsistent Job Description. Unfocused duality or subjective interpretation during Performance Reviews.
Advice to Senior Management
Outside Sales must be independent of Operations, A/R and Customer Service.
