Pros
very supportive and family orienetated work enviroment, upper management is very sincere, and willing to help you help yourself, very diverse group of employees and an amazing non racist atmospere. alsco will help you shine in many ways, since i have started working at alsco i have grown from the inside out, i am truely happy where i work.
Cons
very hot in the summer time, almost unbarable, there are not really any cons to working here, we get paid weekly, we make alright money, there are not alot of demands, just work hard and do a good job doing it, besides that be respectful. can you really complain about that?
Advice to Senior Management
keep doing what you are doing cause whatever it is, its working, we all really appreciate your support and the compassion you show us. you all really make all the differance as to how the work enviroment feels. and that my friends is where it's at!!!
Pros
Co-workers are great, Fare wages, Benefits are Medicore, Chance of making extra income threw sales,
work at your own pace.
Cons
Extreme heavy-lifting, dealing with customers about costs (IMF's Damage charges) and not getting any support from upper management. Poor union agreement
Advice to Senior Management
How do you justify raising customers costs without notify your RSR's and the actual customers themselves, (it's stealing) and stop using the RSR's as scapegoats when you lose customers. Instead of taking 2 hour lunches and hitting the golf course everyday (by 3pm) you could get out and visit some of Alsco's customers. Another point, you have two depts. service and production that do not even communicate with eachother and when they do their at eachothers thoarts. My Advice..... retire and get someone in there that actually cares.
Pros
Conveniently located,
The ladies at the iron that I was assigned to made the best of it.
Its a job.
Cons
The work is mind numbing and back breaking.
The noise level is Loud, very loud.
The heat in building is miserable.
The intercom is louder than the fire alarm. No real concern for safety issues.
Maintenance is minimal and begrudging.
There is no incentive to do a good job, raises are not performance based,
Closed union shop that you pay union dues, out of minimum wage.
Advice to Senior Management
If you know that X amount of product needs, to get out that day then make sure that product gets to the wash isle, before 2:30 in the afternoon.check the tickets. Make sure that the product that is needed, gets washed, so your people can get it out in a timely manner, insted of makeing the people at the end of the line work over time with out breaks, Just because there was a failure to processes the product in timely manner at the begining of the process.
Stop stomping around like someone kicked your dog. Treat your workers with respect
Pros
Ok place to work. Sr. management does not listen to lower management and employees
Cons
Missing out on a lot of business
Advice to Senior Management
Change your business model to include all the linen business
Pros
Background in the linen industry or restaurant industry is gained. Beyond that unless you are willing to relocate to their choice of any where in the country you will really not be moving upwards.
Cons
Poor communication, sales commissions depends on 8-12 week pay out on products sold. Average item revenue for company weekly $2-3.00 not a lot to build up commissions with.
Pros
Work load balance, people, fiscal stability
Cons
Advancement, growth, morale, respect, hostility, total compensation (including benefits)
Advice to Senior Management
Bottom line management is a dangerous game to play...
Pros
always given something to work for. If you perform you will be rewarded. Family like atmoshpere. Can talk to management if you need to about anything. Overall great place to work that is involved in the community and there for its employees.
Cons
My job in paticular can be very time consuming which means less time at home. i get tired alot from kickin ass all over our competition, so if we could not be so awesome that would help :)
Advice to Senior Management
my feedback as an employee of alsco to my management would have to be thanks. Thanks for all the opportunities that you have provided for me and thanks for the rewards when i meet my goals. and just for being there in tough times for more people than you know.
Pros
Okay benefits, Good work hours, and no weekends
Cons
Nothing ever changes for the better. We have production manager that his only focus is the irons and what they get. He could care less about any other department. What they get to accomplish thier work. How things are done anywhere else in the plant. Does nothing to help or fix any situation that is being done in a matter that should not be done. has no people skills. does not know how to talk to people.
Advice to Senior Management
Make the production Manager take care of production plant wide. Not just the irons. Make the safety meetings a plant wide issue. They do not work as they are now. You can bring up a plant problem concerning safety. Nothing is ever done to fix or eliminate the safety issues. I believe if safety meetings were held with the entire plant once a month. Involve evrybody. That they might actually do some good. Make everyone aware of safety plant wide.
Pros
The best reason is that your on your own schedule. no one looking over your shoulder all day, you take care of the customer and they will take care of you. ( even tho the company is making it harder and harder to do this.
Cons
Lack of comunacation between management and customes and drivers. changing policies and rules to suit them and thinking about employees ans customers.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop worrying about bonuses and bottom line, and take care of the customers, stop raising there prices without warning and doing it for no reason, even to the point of violating the contract. Stop adding in new charges and raising them at will. and most important stop making them wait for thier linen, by running enough linen so that there isn't any shortage. there is NO reason for drivers to wait for the days linen to be produced, you knew what was needed for each driver 5-7 days in advance.
The old way of trying to cut expences to the bare bone doen"t work anymore, grow customers, inprove customer satisfaction and the profits will grow. Also get back to quality, We focus to much on getting the work out and don't pay attention to quailty. and for gods sake get out of the paper and restroom business. lets do linen and do it right for a change.
Pros
This is a progessive company with excellent products. This company is excellent an servicing their customers.
Cons
The company is not very patient with their salespeople and if you don't stay about quota then there are consequences.
