    Approves of CEO

    Pros

    - There are good people here who care
    - The experience you'll get is top notch, doing lots of different things at a high level
    - Good place to build your resume for a short time and move on
    - Total comp (mostly equity) was well above average before they significantly reduced annual refreshes

    Cons

    - Senior Finance team was taken over by a small contingent from Sun including the CFO, a VP and 2 Sr Directors
    - 1 such buddie seemingly preferentially promoted to VP within months of being hired into a Director role
    - Slowly weeded out good experienced veteran talent
    - Implemented aggressive rotation policy in Finance where every employee was color coded based on tenure in your current role: red for 3+ years, yellow after 18 mos and green for < 18 mos
    - If there was no desirable job into which to rotate or you didn't like the rotation assignment they gave you after 3 years, it was explained to me that you would be no longer viewed as a leader among CFO staff and would be removed from participating in annual bonuses and stock at their sole discretion (basically, bonuses and stock were for leaders)
    - Some "chose" to leave as a result of this policy
    - CFO actually said in QBRs that organizational conflict was encouraged, and he wasn't talking about the healthy kind of conflict that comes from challenging traditional ways. He was talking about creating uncomfortable conflict with job rotations and similar types of policies.
    - CFO personality is uncomfortably awkward around others, not very socially aware and not welcoming or friendly. He wants to appear very high brow and important but I've seen him treat others disrespectfully. I have seen him many times standing outside the doors of his VPs offices peering through the glass window of their office to interrupt their meeting and making childish wanton faces and gestures such as pointing to his watch and shrugging his shoulders with his hands in the air. And I'm not talking about a funny personality quirk. It's unprofessional at best, let's just say -- not so high brow.
    - As a result, the culture in Finance is generally fearful (somewhat paranoid) and not very honest going upward but unfairly preferential and tyrannical downward
    - Long hours are common and expected 11-12+ since resources are tight and most employees have to deal with nightly calls with Malaysia. Finance department has grown minimally in headcount if at all in 3 years. There's a lot of pressure to perform with less and less resources.
    - Organizationally, back office transactional functions are located in Malaysia for cost savings reasons. The irony is, it's takes twice as long to do anything they touch because it has to be reviewed in the US and corrections/changes/edits take a day to turn around. Or longer if it's done incorrectly or they don't understand what to do which is often. Essentially each time they have a question is another full day lost. UGH!
    - Altera Finance used to have a good team

    Cons

The company is not very large so long term opportunities are somewhat limited.

    Pros

Management is taken very seriously. When a manager leaves they will take their time to find the perfect fit. Sometimes this can take a little too long but it's worth it in the end. I've had several managers here and each of them are accommodating and care about my progress professionally and technically. They encourage you to follow your passion even if it means leaving their team.
The work is challenging, interesting, and everyone is willing to help out. Cross functional collaboration is simple and easy. Everyone is punctual and professional as well. Food is pretty good, there are activities to distract yourself when you need a break, and the company is headed in a good direction. Salary and benefits are competitive.

    Cons

Sometimes I get the feeling that management is not transparent at all. They can be difficult to read.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to tell me what I'm doing wrong. It will help me grow in the right direction.
