    Pros

There are significant challenges that the company has not confronted however if you are up for the challenge, you can make a huge difference. Many employees avoid them so there is significant opportunities for those who want the risk and the reward. Senior officers will not guide you but are expected to step up and thrive in a hyper-competitive environment.

    Cons

    - Lazy engineers, Lazy PM's, only want to work with the same firms over, over, over....again

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change nothing....if you are weak you will be weeded out quickly....it is tough but rewarded.

    Pros

The work here is interesting and allows me to learn new things and pursue my own professional development. The benefits are really good (lots of options, affordable) and the vacation allotment is generous. They just acquired another company, so it seems they are interested in growth.

    Cons

Sometimes there are conflicting messages from management, and people are not sure what they should be focusing on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get on the same page. Have a vision of what the company should be and make sure everyone buys in.

I worked at Altran Group full-time

    Pros

    Decent work environment.
Good place to start out/gain experience.
Mostly friendly and talented engineering staff.
    401K
    Aetna health, Delta dental
Easy access from NJ TPK, 295 and Rte.130

    Cons

Management has made many mistakes. here are some of them:

Employee reviews rate from 1 to 5, but supervisors are given a verbal directive to not give subordinates a score of 5, regardless of exceptional performance.

A questionnaire was provided to each employee which was supposed to be anonymous, however the last part of the questionnaire took "demographic" information which when completed, pinpointed any participants.

North American operations is a top-heavy company. It is common knowledge - even among some in the upper echelon - there have been "too many chiefs and not enough indians".

Quality Control is not taken seriously enough. The processes are in place or nearly so, but in practice there is not enough of it to avoid disappointing clients at a rate more than acceptable for a firm of this type... or any type for that matter.

Project managers vary in efficacy, which is ridiculous because a failing project manager should not continue to manage projects.

I.T. system organization, as well as the number of staff to support the company is sorely lacking.

Document Control is relied upon to act as a form of quality control for deliverables, whereas project teams should already have project sets correct and ready to go for submission having checked the designs and the basics like titleblock content, filenames, etc.

Top leadership has become more and more isolated and less involved thus seemingly less concerned with employees at all levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A major shakeup is needed starting from the top down.

    Pros

The company has an incentive to place tou - they don't get paid otherwise - so they put your profile up for jobs you might not yet be fully ready for. If you get in though you'll learn a ton

    Cons

It's a body shopping organization by nature. Hence there's no sense of team, they are run by the numbers so investments in training etc are tough, and they might place you in some crappy job if you're not vocal enough about it..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell fixed price projects and adjust the metrics of the business managers. They're trapped in doing body shopping time and means by how you measure their progress

    Pros

Co-workers were nice to work with.

    Cons

Project managers are horrible to work with. NA manager a horrible person in general.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of your upper management HE is bringing the company down. He is arrogant and abusive to employees. How he has gotten away with saying the things he does in this day and age is beyond me. Even HR can't get a grip on him. He fires anyone who reports negatively back to France about him.

I worked at Altran Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good salary, Very little work to do if you are talkative and can dupe the dumb senior management/Directors because they are not professional engineers.

    Cons

No serious or big project coming to this company from US clients. The technical presentations by incompetent/professionally zero senior management has scared away all the potential clients (unbelievable, but this is the truth).

Senior management/Directors love to spend time on exercises that have no benefit and provide dumb reasons to CEO of Altran Solutions-USA (who is the only certified professional engineer in the Altran US).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn professionalism even if you have to learn it at 50+ years of age and have not learned/acquired it from previous jobs. Senior Engineering management/Directors have made fresh graduates with 6 months to 1 year experience as supervisors/Managers/Leads over senior engineers having more than 10~15 years experience because Senior Engineering management/directors like to have young girls around them. This has destroyed the professional working atmosphere in Altran office.

Do Not keep all type of incompetent persons around yourself and cut out any brilliant engineers whom the Senior Engineering management/Directors see as a threat to theirs continuation of job with Altran Solutions.

Do Not spend time on exercises that have no benefit.

Improve your drawbacks of Awful leadership, no strategy, no vision, poor communication, management through fear and intimidation, CYA culture and toxic environment.
