    Pros

Good benefits. Interesting projects. Decent salaries.

    Cons

Lack of job security and business development efforts. Groups are very isolated from each other with very little interaction between offices or teams. Some middle managers actively discourage participation in professional societies. Some middle managers ignore company policies and QA processes to meet project deadlines and schedules. Complete turnover of senior management after acquisition of smaller engineering firm last year. Most of new management team are from acquired firm and personally related to each other by blood or marriage.

    Advice to Management

Refocus on Altran's core competencies versus Foliage core competencies.

    Pros

Company pushes hard for growth. Has defined vision to convert from staff augmentation basis to project/solutions. Lots of energy.

    Cons

Days can be crazy with your attention getting pulled in lots of different directions. Need good time management skills to succeed.

    Advice to Management

Stay focused, fix problem areas, capitalize on strengths, limit new investments to a few areas at once.

    Pros

There are significant challenges that the company has not confronted however if you are up for the challenge, you can make a huge difference. Many employees avoid them so there is significant opportunities for those who want the risk and the reward. Senior officers will not guide you but are expected to step up and thrive in a hyper-competitive environment.

    Cons

    - Lazy engineers, Lazy PM's, only want to work with the same firms over, over, over....again

    Advice to Management

Change nothing....if you are weak you will be weeded out quickly....it is tough but rewarded.

    Pros

The work here is interesting and allows me to learn new things and pursue my own professional development. The benefits are really good (lots of options, affordable) and the vacation allotment is generous. They just acquired another company, so it seems they are interested in growth.

    Cons

Sometimes there are conflicting messages from management, and people are not sure what they should be focusing on.

    Advice to Management

Get on the same page. Have a vision of what the company should be and make sure everyone buys in.

    Pros

Decent work environment. Good place to start out/gain experience. Mostly friendly and talented engineering staff. 401K Aetna health, Delta dental Easy access from NJ TPK, 295 and Rte.130

    Cons

Management has made many mistakes. here are some of them: Employee reviews rate from 1 to 5, but supervisors are given a verbal directive to not give subordinates a score of 5, regardless of exceptional performance. A questionnaire was provided to each employee which was supposed to be anonymous, however the last part of the questionnaire took "demographic" information which when completed, pinpointed any participants. North American operations is a top-heavy company. It is common knowledge - even among some in the upper echelon - there have been "too many chiefs and not enough indians". Quality Control is not taken seriously enough. The processes are in place or nearly so, but in practice there is not enough of it to avoid disappointing clients at a rate more than acceptable for a firm of this type... or any type for that matter. Project managers vary in efficacy, which is ridiculous because a failing project manager should not continue to manage projects. I.T. system organization, as well as the number of staff to support the company is sorely lacking. Document Control is relied upon to act as a form of quality control for deliverables, whereas project teams should already have project sets correct and ready to go for submission having checked the designs and the basics like titleblock content, filenames, etc. Top leadership has become more and more isolated and less involved thus seemingly less concerned with employees at all levels.

    Advice to Management

A major shakeup is needed starting from the top down.
