Pros
- Excellent place and work conditions
- Very interesting business and projects
- Very competent management, with excellent business vision and good strategy
- Leader in its field, healthy culture of technical excellence
- Very professional and highly skilled people
Cons
- Aging technologies, big systems that are slow to evolve
- Constant budget pressure, affecting the atmosphere negatively. Very shy at making the slightest investments
- Senior management consideration for employees could really be improved
- Strategy sometimes blurred by internal politics and ego fights
- Aging staff
Advice to Senior Management
Be slightly bolder in your investments. Relax the time pressure on the staff but compensate them more based on performance. Don't be afraid of modern technologies!
Pros
Work in airline industry
In south-east of fRance which is a wonderful place
Not much pression
Cons
Lack of visibility with Managment
Long process to evolve (there is a vey low turn-over, unfortunately)
Management never say employee when they are not as good at they can be.
Advice to Senior Management
Trust (more) your team and don't hesitate to give them more responsability to those who deserves...
Pros
not challenging (if you want an easy job)
they do not fire people
Cons
not challenging
not much room for promotion
salaries average
they compensate everyone the same, whether good or bad
Advice to Senior Management
need to award the stars and get rid of the dead weight. Think innovation and drive change.
Pros
Very good salary for internship (according to Spanish standards)
Good place for an internship
Good training opportunities
Cons
Spanish culture makes you stay long hours pretending that you work
Promotion is given based on amount of time you work for the company
Poor HR management
Interns do not receive real challenge
Advice to Senior Management
Give to interns real responsibilities and try to retain them
Evaluate and promote according to performance rather than hours you stay in office
Pros
The environment is professional, the office is nice, and the job is very reliable and stable. In the Waltham development office we worked with some newer, more interesting technologies. The people are easy going.
Cons
As an entry level developer, I was given almost no training, and I frequently don't have any work to do. Each developer is supposed to be given a boss (for performance reviews, 1-on-1 meetings, and vacation approvals), but after 5 months I still do not have a boss. The guy who hired me "forgot," remembered after 3 months, and now apparently has forgotten again.
Advice to Senior Management
My experience was unusually bad, but in general employees are not treated wonderfully. Management does a poor job of planning ahead, and then asks employees to work overtime excessively to compensate, and then literally tries to use food to make everyone feel better about it.
Pros
Good food, good weather, easy life
Cons
Standard c++ gig, not that interesting
Advice to Senior Management
More research
Pros
The region is amazing, and the site offers several services. Attractive salary and overall conditions. Very good balance work/private life. The canteen is simply superb.
Cons
If software development doesn't passionate you, you can find it a little annoying and maybe not challenging enough as far as stimulus is concerned.
The company structure is quite rigid and hierarchical.
Advice to Senior Management
Propose employees more meetings with management to deliver general and business information about Amadeus. Most of employees don't seem to be interested to Amadeus' missions and values nor to its "business" dimension, and this could cause problems in engagement and motivation.
Pros
The company is in very good financial health and shows a continual growth.
The overall good ambiance.
Some good geographic sites...
Cons
Technologies used are not always very modern.
There is quite an important stress put on the staff given the huge amount of work and limited resources in some situation.
Advice to Senior Management
Salaries are not in adequacy with the current financial performances of the company.
Staff well being should be looked at with more focus.
Pros
Most employees are virtual (home based) and are given responsibility for their territories. This allows the employee to be more entreprenurial.
Cons
Not a lot of support for virtual employees and hard to get answers in a timely fashion. European based company so it is even harder to get answers if you need to go to the development center or world headquarters for answers.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more proactive in getting information out to employees.
Pros
- Good company and environment to work;
- Possibilities to work overseas (as a consultant or applying to work in another country), considering that the company is a real multi-national company.
- Good chalenges in the travel industry.
Cons
- Not a good compensation plan;
- Not a clear picture of the possibilities you can have grow;
- No management sponsor or coach program.
Advice to Senior Management
A good place to work, but need to improove HR capabilities and methodologies.
