I have been working at Amadeus IT Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Work life balance is exceptional. Benefits are fair. Family culture. Very healthy business model - company is making huge benefits!!!

    Cons

Highly political, and hierarchical. Lots of gossips. Difficult to develop a career. People stay in Amadeus for ever - because of it's family, high quality of life.... but no turn over means no room to develop a career. Very slow decision making process. Risk adverse. Not a high intensity work culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are amazing people in Amadeus - ready to do great things! Just give them the environment to do those great things! Amadeus should be a company, not just a family....

    Software engineer, boring job

Former Employee - Software Development Engineer  in  Nice, CA
Former Employee - Software Development Engineer in Nice, CA

I worked at Amadeus IT Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Balances life, flexible hours, life quality in general. Some collegues became your friends.

    Cons

You will not improve your coding skills, old technology and too much in-house tools, the level of software engineering is low. Quality is the last thing important and Innovation is almost nonexistent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open your mind, stop thinking like poor "french" managers, I mean stop being influenced by personal biaises like the "Grande Écoles"... Try to motivate your team instead of doing politic...

Work life balance and benefits are good.

    Cons

Management team (managers and directors) has no coaching or mentoring on how to execute strategies or handle employees.
No career paths other than basic associate, junior and senior titles.
Very slow processes; implementation and communication of best practices takes years.
People are very jealous of information in fear of losing their jobs.

Current Employee - Associate Software Engineer in Waltham, MA

I have been working at Amadeus IT Group

    Pros

The environment is professional, the office is nice, and the job is very reliable and stable. In the Waltham development office we worked with some newer, more interesting technologies. The people are easy going.

    Cons

As an entry level developer, I was given almost no training, and I frequently don't have any work to do. Each developer is supposed to be given a boss (for performance reviews, 1-on-1 meetings, and vacation approvals), but after 5 months I still do not have a boss. The guy who hired me "forgot," remembered after 3 months, and now apparently has forgotten again.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My experience was unusually bad, but in general employees are not treated wonderfully. Management does a poor job of planning ahead, and then asks employees to work overtime excessively to compensate, and then literally tries to use food to make everyone feel better about it.

    Doesn't Recommend
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Amadeus IT Group

    Pros

Most employees are virtual (home based) and are given responsibility for their territories. This allows the employee to be more entreprenurial.

    Cons

Not a lot of support for virtual employees and hard to get answers in a timely fashion. European based company so it is even harder to get answers if you need to go to the development center or world headquarters for answers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more proactive in getting information out to employees.
