    Pros

Smart people; Solid pay when factoring in restricted stock units

    Cons

Ironically, information systems are bolted together with no coherence...just one-off solutions that get rolled out company wide.

    Pros

Money, career development, learning, growing potential, opportunities, stability, brand, recognition, very smart people around this will stretch you to limits you never thought about.

    Cons

Work - life balance...due to the business model it is hard to meet life and work balance. AMZN won't stop moving forward or fast, you must be willing to put 60-70 hours of work/week, if not this is not the place for you. Q1 and Q3 could be an awful experience if you are not an Amazonian at heart.

    Need to listen more.

Former Employee - Operations Manager in Chattanooga, TN

    I worked at Amazon.com full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

-Learn some of the best techniques in the business
-Operationally in the forefront of distribution, fulfillment, logistics
    -Best systematic processes there are
-Compensation is above average, especially if you are around long enough to get stock

    Cons

-Long hours; 12 to 20 hours a day. My average week was 65+
-Expectation is intense; metrics are looked at on the hour
-Can not always influence decisions that Amazon says you can during recruiting/onboarding

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As senior management has all been with company 10+ yrs the message to new hires should not be that they are able to change things like we could easily 10 years ago. Process is much more bureaucratic and 'red taped' now. Based on what they are told coming in it is very discouraging for them once they arrive because it isn't easy to change things.

Former Employee - Associate in Chattanooga, TN

I worked at Amazon.com as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Experience to see the inner-workings of Amazon.com distribution centers.

    Cons

Organization within the distribution departments were poor, and could have been much better managed.

Prepare for the mandatory overtime during the holiday season!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be better communication between your staffed workers and your own Amazon.com employees. Standards between the two groups were different, and communication issues led to some staffers being fired for not meeting Amazon.com standards, although they were meeting the staffing company's standards.
