I have been working at Amazon.com full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some of the best things about working for Amazon is the people you work with. Most of the time, they are wonderful and hard working people.

    Cons

Senior management can be careless about their associates. I've had three bad experiences with HR and Senior management in the past 5 months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

LISTEN to your associates. Don't tell them you will work with and for them and then not follow through completely.

I worked at Amazon.com as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

    - Small teams mean that coworkers are friends, fast development, and bureaucracy is minimal. Coordination with other teams just means a short walk down the hall or talking over a divider between rooms.
    - Decent pay and benefits.

    Cons

developers must take turns being on call. If you're on call, that means if your team's thing breaks at 3am, your pager is going to go off and you get to go fix it immediately. The idea is to motivate developers to write more reliable code, I guess.

It is possible to get stuck with a bad team. Either people you don't get along with, or a workaholic team that has a bad work-life balance and pushes you too hard.

I have been working at Amazon.com full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Smart people, innovative ideas, interesting projects

    Cons

This company chews people up and spits them out. Managers commonly set goals for their employees that are impossible to meet, and if you don't meet them, you are out. Nobody gives a care about your career or developing your skills. Everybody is focused on shoving work onto other people to meet their goals. That's the only way you can survive at Amazon. I worked at BCG before Amazon. While my workload there was challenging, it was manageable. My workload at Amazon is not manageable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care a little about people and they will do a lot for you. You don't have to roll out the red carpet. Respect your employees. That's not too much to ask.
