    Pros

Good base pay, various shifts, tolerable management

    Cons

Flexing up(involuntary overtime), physically demanding, not always worth the work being put in, high turnover

    Advice to Management

Longer breaks. Stop counting the time it takes to exit the building as a part of break.

    I worked at Amazon.com full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of support - roles are very defined - production rates are set for you, HR department to handle all payroll issues - which is very nice

    Cons

Always on your feet - no desk or time to work on projects - days can be long - constantly redesigning work area

    Advice to Management

Needs to provide down time off floor to work on special projects, need to provide office space to talk with team members that need coaching

    Pros

lots of overtime, friendly workers and managers.

    Cons

working 10hrs a day is a killer, you get knocked out after work.

    Advice to Management

management should reduce the working hours to 8hrs.

  6. Entry level experience unvalued (but plenty of O/T)

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Amazon.com full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Steady hours Easy internal transfer process Fair pay Personal time hours usable at any time

    Cons

Superficial, hurried training Job rotation dictated by biased Process Assistants Entry level experience gained leads to no where

    Advice to Management

-Training program that rotates new associates BI-WEEKLY, until they know 3 or more functions. -Dissolve any unofficial Tier 1 roles given to "favorable" workers. -Make an effort to cultivate the health of your FC's people vs. just meeting productivity goals.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Amazon.com (Less than a year)

    Pros

Big company with a startup culture Lots of good people working. Work life balance is manageable. Customer is the priority.

    Cons

Sometimes I feel like management and business don't really know what they want. Although having lots of different teams working together is a great idea, in the real world that does not work very well. Different teams have different priorities and often times this leads to a priority war, where who gains is the team with the better manager/director.

    I worked at Amazon.com full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazon.com discount, set schedule, overtime available, help with pursuit of education, stock.

    Cons

Mandatory overtime can be overwhelming. Few opportunities for growth. There are so many employees that you have to be some manager's favorite in order to get to do new things in your department. Most positions are boring, monotonous work.

    Advice to Management

I advise management to regularly help diversify associates daily tasks. Doing the same job day in and day out without recognition can drive a person mad!

    Positive Outlook
    Approves of CEO

    I worked at Amazon.com full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Work on very cool projects and have an impact on the company - Very intelligent and competent employees - Good mission/vision that is communicated across the company - Opportunities to move in the company and work with different teams and projects - Great company to work for if you have limited experience and want to learn a lot very quickly

    Cons

    - Work/life balance is virtually non-existent: expect to work at least 50-60 hours every week and more during the holiday season - Employees tend to get burnt out after 1-2 years and turn-over is high - Amazon management is hit or miss; some managers are excellent while others are constantly under water and struggling to manage their teams - Limited professional development opportunities: Amazon is very frugal and does not like to pay for training or conferences - Limited ability to change systems or processes that are hindering the company

    Advice to Management

    - Hire enough people to do the work that needs to get done and improve the work/life balance at Amazon - Don't treat your employees as replaceable commodities; the company loses a lot of knowledge and talent every time an employee leaves - Allow employees the opportunity to attend training and conferences outside of Amazon - Offer training for managers and promote good people managers from within when possible - Set more reasonable expectations when planning projects and timelines to avoid burning out engineering teams
