Pros
Great team members to work with
Company cares about the employees
Good working environment
Cons
Dismal work life balance
Have to put in late hours during releases
Advice to Senior Management
Donot let mass recruitment spoil the culture that you have nurtured so far at Amdocs
Pros
Unless you are Israeli, not much knowledge sharing to others in the company.
Cons
-- Good pay (above average)
-- Very professional teams
-- Process focus
Pros
Excellent Business Knowledge
Flexibility to move across different locations
Cons
Promotions are not as transparent as it should be - sometimes you would see more deserving still stuck , while the least expected ones getting thru
Advice to Senior Management
They should take good care of employees on relocation - should not leave them stranded due to visa issues.
Pros
Great benefits package (you would be hard pressed to find better) and management is very understanding if you need to take time due to a sick child etc.
Cons
Depending on the project there may be no chance for advancement.
Pay rises are on the small side.
Management don't always look to the far future but just concentrate on what is happening right now.
Pros
Project experience is very broad - you get to wear many hats - lots of opportunity to shine, and lots of opportunity to get noticed
Cons
Long, and even longer hours, working nights and weekends. You better be prepared to work on Sundays to compensate for Israel time zones
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership does a decent job of informing staff - company is run out of Israel so be prepared for multiple cultures (not a bad thing)
Pros
The Challenging work and travel opportunities were great. A good bunch of people to work with generally. Great technologgy and market position.
Cons
The culture is tough, if you are not Israeli your upwards mobility is hobbled. High expectations that people will put personal lives as second to the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to consider "Westernizing' the culture somewhat. A vast majority of the team is not Israeli but the expectations are that everyone will operate as the Israeli team does. Cultuarlly that does not work for every employee and leads to high dissatisfaction.
Pros
- salary is good
- travel time is limited
Cons
- management is extremely poor
- unreasonable deadlines, especially if you are on client required travel projects
- when entering new role, no guidance is given from managers, meaning you will have to make the mistakes on your own and learn from them, which is detrimental
Advice to Senior Management
be more engaged with the people you are managing - it becomes pretty pathetic that you're called a "manager" and you dont really manage anything
Pros
Reasonably competitive salary
Very good medical benefits
Average paid time off
Diverse work force in multiple continents
Generally get to work on projects at Tier 1 companies
Cons
Extremely difficult to get promoted to any level without "playing the game."
While they say a work life balance is important, they do not back this up with actions.
Overall, the company (even outside of consulting) has a disgruntled workforce
Advice to Senior Management
I have seen many very strong employees leave due to management not allowing for a reasonable work life balance. This is not too surprising in a consulting atmosphere but it seems over the top in most of the situations. Management seems to continually put employees in a position where they must choose family or work.
Pros
I can't think of any at this point.. maybe a good starting point for freshers or those looking to get into the industry.
Cons
Downsides were many-
1) Favouritism
2) Glass ceiling that prevents growth
3) Poor compensation
4) Communication not clear
5) Little work life balance
Advice to Senior Management
Open line of communication with employees at all levels, more flexibility and work life balance needs to be provided to employees.
Pros
Good pay and global experience. Very dedicated people.
Cons
Your advancement at this company is completely based on connecting with and impressing senior management. It also helps to be Israeli. There is no accountability for managers actually doing performance reviews and if they do its a joke. There is very little strategic planning so most of your time will be spent running from crisis to crisis. Some managers are better than others though.
Advice to Senior Management
Perhaps asking managers and directors to embody the "Amdocs Values" you pitched to us would make them more of a reality.
