I have been working at Amdocs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fantastic experience, learning opportunities. I have always been challenged and had opportunity to expand my knowledge and skills. Company is well run from a financial perspective. Very stable. Multi-cultural, international company which gives you an opportunity to work with a wide range of people with varied backgrounds.

    Cons

Benefits have been scaled back, force you to cover some costs that in other companies are paid for like part of home office internet and home office phone expenses. Conservative travel policies can make travel much harder than it needs to be. Plenty of bureaucracy to work through if you are doing anything outside the norm.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in the people, make it easier to innovate and improve current practices.

    Pros

Big Transformation Projects are Delivered providing value to the customers. This ensures a win win for both Amdocs and Customers

    Cons

Many times the project are over committed and it affects the life balance. Lack of recognition of pure technical positions.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus on the execution of the company goals however do not sacrifice the human factor for the bottom line.

    Pros

    - Nice people - Good internal opportunities - Cultural diversity - Work life balance is decent, although could be improved further. - Good benefits

    Cons

    - Innovation is not one of the strong points. - Time taken for executing ideas is very long, which can be counter productive in times of cloud services and anywhere access.

    Advice to Management

    - In solving engineering problems, management should try to look for solutions other than putting increased resources behind problems.

I have been working at Amdocs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the hardest working colleagues I've ever worked with. A great suite of products that their clients can't live without, making the company more resilient during economic downturns. Working in Amdocs' Consulting Division (ACD) gives you freedom to explore different roles. This is not true in the regular part of Amdocs. ACD will allow you extended unpaid leave for maternity and possibly other reasons. Once you prove yourself, there's a lot of freedom (working from home some days, setting your own schedule, etc). After one year of absolute hell working with a director (see below), the next two managers were among the best I've had at any company. Very good medical insurance - colleagues had babies and only paid $75 for the entire process!

    Cons

Unchecked arrogance gives a few directors and higher the "God complex" - a former director had been known to make people break down in meetings. Questionable professionalism - same director asked certain people to work on Christmas Eve (company holiday) because they were a certain religion (not Christian) and their families wouldn't care. I'm not in HR but shouldn't this type of behavior be frowned upon? Sadly, he may not have even known better, probably because that's how he was treated moving up the ladder. There are many managers who are technically brilliant but poor resource managers. Like many top-heavy companies, it's almost impossible to get a promotion - you'd have better luck leaving and coming back. On the flip side of flexible hours is no concept of work-life balance. Of course, this depends entirely on your project and manager, but as a general company philosophy, having meetings at nights and on weekends is par for the course.

    Advice to Management

Adding some diversity to the management team would help bring fresh perspectives. Respect for individuals deserves more than lip service.

    Pros

Lots of opportunities, high employee retention, good compensation, relatively high employee satisfaction, high professionalism among almost every employee and manager

    Cons

Slow to respond to changes, extra layer of management hierarchy, working environment can be politically charged.

    Advice to Management

Be more flexible. Allow more employees to participate in the decision making process Be more open to different point of views
