Too large of area to cover
Unsafe practices in keeping amount of patients ( how many they want you to see)
They do not want you to send patients to ER because they do not want census to drop
THey do not want you to discharge patients until the first of the month
Do not want you to discharge patient until there is a patient to replace the patient.
They are keeping patients open even if they do not have a skill, they like to keep patients open for long periods of time ( CHRONIC AND NON COMPLIANCE)
Clinical Manager tell you how to run the caseload and they have never even seen the patient
Corporate Wound Care nurse tell you to keep patients open and have never seen ( chronic wounds)
Keep office family members on case load even if they are chronic
For a computer based company-- there is a lot of paperwork
Unfair with employees
TOO many cliques
Director of Clinical Operations: They are worried abou their nubmer ( census) and do not care about staff WOrried about there bonus
Advice to Senior Management
To look at your DOOS, clinical Manager and AVP's. Also look at marketing. The referrals are not skilled to begin with and the Directors tell us to open Alot of case could be closed within the first month of opening them
Pros
Caring supportive individuals, opportunities for advancement, not afraid to change to make things better, always looking towards the future to secure amedisys' place in home care.
Cons
Because Amedisys is not afraid to make changes when needed, sometimes it is difficult to keep up with all the changes.
Pros
othing really positive about the place except the online training was easy and convenient. Lots of promises are made that you will make alot of money when you are hired. The offer is too good to be true.
Cons
Money hungrey managers push you to visit and recert patients who no longer want or need services. Poor pay for long hours. Too much travel. Low focus on patient care. More focus on making money.
Advice to Senior Management
Close the company all together before the government shuts you down. I hope you read these reviews and understand what people are saying.
Pros
I've been working for Amedysis for about six months. I like the flexibility, the local travel and the independence. Majority of my co-workers are friendly with the exception of a few and the benefits are pretty good.
Cons
I honestly don't think I'm going to be able to continue working here. I can't meet the productivity and have a life. This pay per visit is horrible. You see patient's all day long then you chart all night long. The pay is not worth the hours worked.
Advice to Senior Management
From what I have read and from all the job postings, this company can't keep staff. Pay your nurses for the work that they do.
Pros
is very easy to get hired in other home health jobs after having amedisys experience
Cons
this agency has negative baggage in the local community....if a healthcare professional knows the agency, they or their patients have had a bad experience.
Advice to Senior Management
why bother, all they care about is milking a paycheck
Pros
good clinicians, nice office, on the road a lot, could work personal appointments around job duties, feel like you are really helping people with their healthcare
Cons
poor leadership, inept management, mostly concerned about "hitting numbers" for monthly budget than about good customer service, have different offices competing in the same area for patient referalls
Pros
The pay, benefits and time off are great. The sales territories are fairly small compared to pharmaceutical sales. Company car (Ford Focus) and gas card are provided. Patients really do get quality care, which makes it easy to stand behind the services.
Cons
After the first quarter or two, your quotas are increased so much where it's nearly impossible to ever bonus. If you're considering this company and taking into account that you'll bonus every quarter, think again... So many pointless and completely ridiculous tasks that take away from the actual job, yet they question why you're not able to be in the field 100% of the time. The people running the company have absolutely no clue what's actually going on in the field. My region has two calls each week lasting about an hour long just to report numbers that the managers already have! It's a total waste of time.
Advice to Senior Management
Get more involved, listen to the field staff, take out pointless conference calls and meetings.
Pros
Compensation for corporate employees is fair but not great
Large company and opportunity to buy stock at a discounted rate
Cons
A lot of senior employees have been terminated after good reviews to save money
Employees who are doing good work have been written out of the company because their salary level is at the higher end
Employees are fired instead of laid off so the company can save face
Amedisys routinely contests unemployment benefits creating a long waiting period for employees
Amedisys managers are taught to write bad things about employees to get rid of them even when the employees can prove the things aren't true. The managers act like gods!
Advice to Senior Management
Get off you high horses and start treating people with the respect they deserve. If you believe you think no one is telling anyone to do anything wrong you are kidding yourselves!
Pros
Decent compensation if the company is established locally
Good Benefits
I liked the computer documentation
Cons
As an employee you feel that no matter how good of a job you do it is never appreciated
Even if you are a great therapist you are treated the same as a really unethical/unprofessional therapist
As a whole you are not taken care of in times of a low/high census... they just expect you to fend for yourself
HUGE territory expected to be covered with no additional compensation for long drives
No extra for evaluations
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciate a job well done and a good employee when you have them. It is hard to find a sense of loyalty to this company with the way their employees are treated by local management and the AVPs. Every single employee at my former office is dissastisfied and there is a HUGE turnover rate with many of the good/ethical employees being the ones that make the decision to leave. You are left with some "bad apples" and it will show in the long run.
Pros
The only reason I can think of is that it is a home health company and if you do PRN work you can tell them when and where you will work and you may get a better per visit rate.
Cons
Very stressful workplace. There was a very heavy marketing push in the agency. New programs for therapy are marketing tools for increasing visits. Management bonuses require lots of patients and lots of visits. Therapists do the work and management gets the benefits.
Continuous computer updates make it impossible to figure out what is required as far as documentation. Just when you think you finally have got it under control an new "enhancement" shows up and you are back to square one trying to learn new requirements or unlearn something you were told that was incorrect. Management is often clueless and employees are given the wrong instructions/wrong directions. The turnover is HUGE. And did I mention long long hours due to huge territories.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat employees with respect and not as a disposable commodity. Don't make deals behind people's backs. Live up to the promises made when employees are hired. Look out for your employees and patients instead of the bottom line and bonuses.
