I have been working at Amedisys

    Pros

AUTONOMY!!! TONS AND TONS OF IT!!! If you like to drive all over hells half acre and take work home with you at the end of working an 8 hour day ( this is the job for YOU!

    Cons

Too many too list. Poor training, clinical managers are not always a good resource, you are paid per visit so you have to hustle for your paycheck. This company will run you into the ground. If you are someone who has no options and are hungry to earn a six figure income.... this may be a good fit. Not the place to work if you are someone who has a life outside of work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Amedisys full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great corporate support, company cares about taking care of the patient. Always stresses to do the right thing and everything else will fall in place.

    Cons

All jobs have cons (charting, management, hours, etc). It's going to be what you make it for yourself. Most cons are usually because the one complaining doesn't take ownership for their own actions and/or behaviors and blames everyone else for what is "wrong".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep being the support system we need you to be!

    Pros

Flexibility is how it is sold. Don't believe it.

    Cons

Everything from scheduling, office management, clinical management, a bunch of liars, unprofessional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at your turn over rate, when you have a complete nursing turn over every 6 months, you must know it is the office. Open your eyes.
office management keeps us from transfers.

    Pros

    Large company, wellness program,

    Cons

poorly managed, very little room for promotion, frustrating and meaningless task, endless meetings, incessant in fighting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a hard look at who you have chosen to lead your company, just because someone has been with the company for 15 years doesn't mean they can lead others, or that they have the best plan to move the company forward.

Google the class action lawsuit against Amedisys and that is exactly what happens to their employees!

    Pros

None. Notta. Not one single one unless you are all about kissing the bosses rear then you can say you are sporting a new scent called S'EIBBED POOP!!!!

    Cons

Can't call HR or AVP with any issues because they try to turn it around on you! Can't have a life because you spend all your time trying to see 40-50 patients a week when they tell you 30 patients is full time. Can't spend more than 30 minutes in a patients home or you are accused of "visiting" and not working reguardless of what the patients needs are. Can't be honest about time sheet because they want you in the home minimal time but want you to "fudge" your time to equal whatever Medicare states is minimum time required! YES THEY ARE FRAUDULENT AND THEY JEOPARDIZE YOUR LICENSE!!!! RUN, RUN, RUN NOW MY FRIENDS!!!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try caring more about your employees and patients and less about what you can screw the government and/or insurance companies out of!

I have been working at Amedisys full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Plan your own schedule, flexibility

    Cons

The DON is only concerned about bottom line and her own career. Employees have to endure horrible work environment because they need jobs. Clinical Managers will not back you up even when your right because they are afraid for their jobs. You get into administration/management only by knowing someone and then you keep you job by going along with everything DON says. They don't get these jobs because they deserve them and have worked hard to earn moving up the ladder. They don't even know the Medicare regs. You can never ask questions or bring up concerns because you will be seen as difficult and response to you will be ugly. I was told to just do as I was told and not ask questions. They talk down to you and are disrespectful. As long as you keep quiet and let them talk down to you, you will be okay. They lie to you about mileage re-imbursement. You have to do on-call when it's not necessary. They talk bad about other employees to other employees, two face. When you try to reach administrator, you will be ignored. When you try to speak with HR, they will give you vague responses and ultimately you will get nowhere. They will send you to horrible neighborhoods, no matter how unsafe, because it's the bottom line that counts. They will discharge patient's who are in need of care because they aren't making enough money off of the patient. They push physical therapy even when it's not necessary. Multiple lawsuits due to greed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be better people and appreciate your staff, learn how to speak to others and not think your better when your not.
Home Health is not an emergency response service, people can go to ER instead of sending nurse out in the middle of the night for nonsense. Bottom line, safety of employees is more important.

I worked at Amedisys full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Unable to offer any pros as the company has changed significantly over the years. Initially, the salaries and incentives were great then went sour, with no raises is 4 years and the incentives were constructed to be unobtainable for the last several years as well.

    Cons

The whole business. Stop focusing on the profits. Top heavy leadership salaries. Lack of organization

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Know your employees and check your AVPs performance-a great many are unprofessional, unproductive and unhelpful to the agency. They know how to perform an act for the Executives in Baton Rouge.
