    Pros

Pay is good & that's why more people haven't quit.
At this time there is still a pension being offered.
    Some departments have flexible schedules.
If you smile, play the office game, & participate in corporate events, they will promote you
There are still some very nice workers here, they're just hard to find because they're hiding from the crazy and nosy ones.

    Cons

They require more education for entry level jobs now to keep you hooligans from applying.
Some people can sleep and socialize most of the day, get in a crunch, and they will force others to "help them out" (do their work for them).
Has become more competitive over the years.
Don't try to get a friend/relative hired here unless you know somebody who knows somebody. LOTS of people related here.
Some management employees resent the amount of money hourly employees make and will deny overtime. More overtime hours for us means less bonus money for them, so there you go.
They play favorites, and change job requirements to fit who they want.

    Advice to Management

You know why people aren't "engaged"? One reason is because favoritism runs rampant. Another is because people have worrisome, micromanaging supervisors. Also, changing the job specifications to filter out certain people is insulting. Why do people need an associate's degree to work in customer service? That's not going to filter out who you want to filter out. Just exclude the candidates who aren't related to somebody you know like usual.

    Pros

Great benefits. Great Pay. Great work culture. Learn a lot quickly. They take care of their engineers.

    Cons

If you do your job well, be prepared to have to compensate for those who do not. They overwork the good employees and let the duds bottom feed.

    Advice to Management

Get everyone to do their part or get rid of those who don't. Sleeping, video games, and personal calls all day is overboard.

    Pros

    Great Benefits, great co workers.

    Cons

Middle management in the Controllers group is cut throat and money hungry. Will dispose of anyone who gets in their way.

    Advice to Management

Clean house of supervisors and middle management.

Friendly, helpful people. During the summer there were many opportunities to drive to job sites and work away from the desk.

    Work was boring and repetitive.

    Pros

Benefits are good and so is pay. Very intelligent coworkers that help with the company's motto.

    Cons

No major cons really, well the hiring process is really long.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more minorities.

    Pros

Good money, good retirement, good benefits, get to go on a lot of storms

    Cons

Treated pretty poorly by higher ups, job siting sucks, always feel like they are trying to take something from you

    Advice to Management

Being proactive is good, but when you do it at the cost of morale when there is no mandated change coming that is just silly. If you would quit overreacting to singular situations and throwing blanket policies on those situations, then we may actually enjoy working for you.

    Pros

There were lots of opportunities to learn about whatever area you were interested in. There were lots of chances to explore the plant and network with others. All the interns got along really well. All of the full time employees really seemed to enjoy their jobs

    Cons

Working in the nuclear industry means there are lots of safety regulations and red tape. This makes it hard for an intern to contribute anything valuable during such a short amount of time. I was often bored.

    Advice to Management

Discuss career opportunities with interns so we could understand where we lie in the company and where we could be if we became full time employees.

    Pros

Ameren is very flexible and pays very well. Your supervisors actually care about your well-being. I'd recommend working for this company to anyone.

    Cons

They are stuck in their old manpower ways. They need to be more open to change.
