Cons
Reorganization of company change in managment
Pros
Easy to get in
Able to go about your duties without interruption from supervisors
Job is able to be done by most people
Cons
Pay is less than inspiring
May have to endure the fact that one or two of your co-workers are boneheaded.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work.
Pros
One of the largest Refrigerated Warehouse network, good programs and learning experience. Good compensation. lot of safety prizes.
Cons
Few Holidays, lesser vacation, top management takes a long time to revert back. Have recently a lot of competition
Pros
Plenty of work (OT), Know the work enviorment everyday, Company is trying to move forward with current management. Making changes in the right direction. Is looking for new ways to grow the buisness, working international markets as well as domestic.
Cons
They tend to give up on projects if they don't return the dollars fast enough. They need to let thngs mature more before giving up and changing gears. Most warehouse have the attitude that if you don't do what they want they will go away. Some GMs are afraid to speak up due to past management. Quite a few people are afraid of change both old timers and new employees.
Advice to Senior Management
get better communications out to the feild and stop bringing in all your old buddies. You have some real good people on the floor that need the chance to show you they can make it work.
Pros
Americold is the largest cold storage company in America. There are many large customers in the food industy - all the big names. For some jobs, they pay a decent salary. They have some good initiatives to improve the business.
Cons
Even though they keep changing the leadership, Americold cannot seem to fix the culture. Old school management style, management that is arrogant and closed off from the rest of the company. Operations team has many safety issues and facilities are in a bad shape.
Advice to Senior Management
Get engaged in the operations. Go see the sites. Accept ideas from people who have been there the longest. Meet and talk with customers more often.
Pros
Compensation for me was quite good. Upper management is trying to change the culture in a positive manner and ewcognizes some of the past mistakes made by previous regimes...
Cons
This is a company entrenched with an internal good old boy network which will never change. For all practical purposes the accounting department runs the company (and not necessarily in a good way). HR is useless....
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of the dead wood and bring in some fresh ideas. Remember that the company works for the customers...not the other way around.
Pros
The hourly wage is good for the area. The location is very close and convenient to my home. The heat and humidity of summertime is never an issue (we work in a frozen foods warehouse.)
Cons
The expected workweek is downright abusive! The company has been in need of more workers for over a year. I worked well over 500 hours of overtime in 2009, most of it not by my choice. The paychecks look great, but one needs time to take care of one's home and spend time with friends and family. The worst part is the way overtime is scheduled. You can be forced to work on one of your days off and when you show up for work that day, you are forced for yet another "extra" day. And so on. It's impossible to plan anything!
Advice to Senior Management
It would be nice to treat your employees the way you'd wish to be treated. I believe providing ample workers to take care of the workload is YOUR responsibility. I understand needed overtime during busy times, but expecting people to give up their lives and sanity is morally wrong. I have never worked in a place where even the best workers have such a negative attitude toward the company.
