Pros
Air Liquide makes money in good time and bad so layoffs are virtually unheard of.
Cons
The company is not a fast growing company that is growing fast. This creates situations that managers are not used to handling.

Pros
The pay is good for my lifestyle.
Cons
I'm just another number among many without any recognitions.
Advice to Senior Management
Get off your high horses, come down to the operational levels and see the chaos.
Pros
Very rarely are employees micromanaged, and if so, the reason is usually because the manager in place is new to the group or recently promoted. There are numerous opportunities abroad if you would like to be come an expat.
Cons
From a technological standpoint (employee experience) the company is several years behind. Much of the software and work processes are outdated and can cause for very frustrating experiences. Base compensation is average/below average and perks are practically non existent. Maintaining the status quo is very much preferred.
Perhaps the biggest con is how achievement is recognized: if one appears to bring results you will be rewarded as such. A high performer is one who management most recently remembers during the annual review process.
Pros
They are constantly trying to find younger employees to fill the upper management positions, so it is possible to move very fast upwards on the career ladder with Air Liquide America.
Cons
You must be willing to move at their whims to progress your career and excel. Unless you play by their game, you are only a number in the system. The HR department is very impersonal, understaffed, and atypical when compared to other HR departments. Their new rating system makes it extremely difficult to be rewarded justly during the review period.
Pros
This is a stable company
Cons
there is neutral career development

Pros
High visibility from ALLEX program and high level of responsibility early in career. Flexible work schedule, ability to move around to different locations and positions both in the US and internationally.
Cons
Staffing in operations and field engineering is inadequate. Lack of scope or direction at times on projects.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire less people to create new policies and hire more to implement the existing policies. Improve communication in order to enable input from above and below and allow innovation opportunities to all.
Pros
Little competition in this industry, so a solid company. Good benefits. Large company with opportunities to advance if you are willing to work hard and long with little acknowledgement.
Cons
The company culture is very political. You must be willing to participate in the political culture. It is who you know and often not what you know or can accomplish. Promotion often appears to be based on meeting education or gender guidelines. If you are young with a masters degree, Air LIquide will love you, although their hiring based strictly on this basis has often back fired on them. There is high turnover within certain divisions.
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciate knowledge over age or education. Recognize the value of a multi-generational workforce and the value of that to newbies into the industry. It is important to remain multi-generational to be successful. Update the computer systems and relax more on new IT technologies, rather than tighten those up. Very behind in the new social network world; watching other gas companies forge forward while we are way behind is disappointing and debilitating.
Pros
Solid benefits, hardworking employees, competitive pay.
Cons
With severe recession, company unwilling to adjust expectations for adding sales. Sales expectations don't match potential opportunities.
Advice to Senior Management
Management could be more honest and realistic about growth potential. Treat all employees with dignity and respect. Show more consideration and respect for older employees, who have contributed to company's past successes.
Pros
Decent life-work balance
Decent benefits (401k, insurance, etc.)
Cons
Very difficult to get promoted.
Advice to Senior Management
No advice to give.
Pros
A very stable work place due to the fact that the overall business model and customer base allows for minimum change in revenues in difficult economic times.
Cons
Career growth is very difficult to achieve for all individuals in the different business areas. Selected individuals are provided with opportunities to develop their work experience and grow their careers with little regard to past experience or performance.
Advice to Senior Management
Please offer career growth opportunities to all fields and employees in the company and not to selected areas and persons.
